For a maidan flight set up by a rookie on a 3g system, I'll choose a less windy day. Got a battery on the charger right now. Now I just have to get the nerve up to try it.

To eliminate wind u need 4 walls and a roof. Maybe even duct tape for the hot air eminating from planners and fellow fliers that sustain inverted flight. : )

A little? I had my throttle curv at 60 instead of 90 like I did with the flybar. Corce I forgot to turn down my swash at first, I had it at 65 then turned it down to 45. I like it though. Can't wait to fly it at the field. I was in a 10x10 area in my back yard so nothing more than hovering can be done there.
Luckily I am off all next week and should get some time in on it.

I had a couple gust come through and it held the hover well. I'm liking FBL.

Got my new heli today It's a Raptor Titan SE with OS 50SX Hyper motor. It has a Futaba S9254 on the rudder and Align DS610 on cyclic and throttle. It came with a GY401 but I bought a GY701 Gyro\Gov since the concensus seemed to be that a gov is good idea. Just need to get a battery and probably an Align 2 in 1. My 450 still scarse the crap out of me so I don't know how the heck you guys get used to these monsters. I sure wish winter wasn't coming.

OldNewbie: As far as the 450s, they can be a handful. If you set one up with lower headspeed, it'll be somewhat easier to handle (for basic plain-old-flying-around). Generally - lower head speed needs softer o-rings on the feathering shaft - higher head speed, harder. I am still much more comfortable with my 50, than with the 450. (Maybe I need to try some of my own advice!)

Jay, you will find the 50 sized heli, so much more docile than that of the 450. You'll wonder why you even bought a 450 in the first place!! But yeah, they do look like monsters when you put them side by side! Just because the seasons change doesn't mean we have to stop flying, just not so much and only when its about freezing and the sun is shinning! We don't fly out at WMRAF during the winter as its hard to get back there, but sometimes we find a spot and meet up there to fly.

I flew my 550 out back of my house most of the winter and plan on doing the same this year. Come on over and fly this winter Sonny. Are you all flying indoor this year in GR?
