Did you really get a hole in your car? 99.9% of hunters will NOT take a shot unless they know where the bullet will end up if they miss. Most shotgun slugs will only go about 200 yards (less if shot on a flat plane) before hitting the ground. Yes some rifles can shoot hundreds of yards but it would be a very rare instance for you to be in any danger unless someone was actually aiming at you.

As a side note, firearms deer season is 1 weekend in September (youth hunt), 2 weeks in Nov. 15-30th, and 1 week of muzzle loading in December. I don't know the dates because it is too damn cold to hunt usually. But Bow season last from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31st.
