I agree
Always fly with a filter. You got guys out there flying without to save a couple of oz's, but the big fan on top of the rotor head creates alot of wind and its very easy to kick up dust even flying from a driveway which appears clean. Any sand dust that gets sucked into the motor will surely damage the ring/cylinder and then you'll lose power anyways due to loss of compression and blowby.

You don't need to oil the filters, the fuel itself is pretty moist with oil and stuff and it will self oil anyways over time. I run them dry and every so often wash them with soap and water to get rid off the excess oil as that blocks the airflow and reduces the power of the motor. Once a season is a good time to clean the filters.

I do not oil the airfilter on my GSR, however I do clean it on occasion, noting that it does feel a bit oily when taken out to clean it.

It must be coming from the fuel/oil mixture out of the carburetor.

Useful, perhaps even essential bling? It's a wonderful world! Followed this thread - visited Dave's Discount Motors web store - blew my weekly addiction allowance.

Dave's UFO air filter for Walbro Carburetors
This filter IS great but has one little fault. If you secure it with a worm-screw radiator hose clamp, comes with the filter from Dave's, it can damage the filter. The first filter I installed had the hose clamp almost touching the back side of the filter. The worm-screw housing of the hose clamp rubbed a hole in the filter.

To prevent this just tighten the hose clamp as far toward the engine as possible and it won't damage the filter housing.

Great looking filter and comes in many colors.

Have fun and land on the skids.

This hobby is WAY too expensive!!
