My point is the that discovery of the Higgs particles proves nothing. It has nothing to do with "God", anymore than the Big Bang, Relativity, Quantum Mechanics etc. . . Science can't "really" be used to prove God because of the human condition.
Unless Higgs offers proof, he's got nothing but a silly story.
Granted, we can all agree that "something" caused the Big Bang. What seperates morons like E W Higgs from sane people, is that sane people don't try to speculate on something that they cannot get a hold onto. Like I said, if he substituted God for an impersonal mechanism then I would have agreed with him.
As we progress we are finding more and more laws about the natural world. The amazing thing is that these laws are impersonal. They don't really have any "consciousness". Those of faith don't like this, they claim that something/someone is behind it all - someone/something that really cares about us. The latter point is important, because that's all faith really is: sad deluded human beings thinking someone, somewhere ultimately cares about them. And they will find any ways and all means to add to their "credibility".
Religion has always suffered from credibility relating to its inconsistency/illogical formulism/paradoxical issues/interperative issues. If, as as some claim, that faith is something nothing to do with science then why should large religious groups attack Darwin and try to put forward their version of evolution? They do it because they want their religion on the same footing as science - not possible. Hence any religion will have groups that split and fight over themselves over interperative issues.
I'm done with this thread now, and E W Higgs is a moron.
