I'm trying to set up an ad hoc network. I'm not even sure if it will do what I want it to do, but I read online it would. I have an iPod touch that connects to the internet via wifi. The router is too far away for it to connect to. I'm connected to the internet in my room via an ethernet cable. I am using a laptop that does have a wireless card in it.

So I read online I can set up an ad hoc network hosted on my computer, and my iPod can connect to the ad hoc network and in turn use the internet once I share my internet connection.

So far I created an ad hoc network on my laptop, and that network is visible under wireless networks in range on both my laptop and my iPod. On the taskbar it is showing as not connected. When I connect to it the status still remains not connected.

I did share my local area connection (that's my internet connection), I disabled WEP, and set everything to find the IP address to auto.

Anyone have any advice on how to get this thing working?
