Plumbing is in. The links have been added, servos are at 90 degrees no subtrims, but those Quick UK links on the flybar cage concern me. I need to screw them in one more turn and there is no room

you should definitely keep your one. Sounds like a good one My girl loves the hobby and I couldn't even imagine being with someone that hates it.
Thanks chopper_crazy. My wife likes to gift me things that I love, that does not mean that she likes the hobby though She things that we are all crazy, spending money on something that is going to crash anyway
===================================================================
Few hours later....
Well I took the Dremel to the long Quick UK links and shortened them, now the head setup is complete.

The tail assembly is in and as you can see I could not wait any longer and took some pictures with the canopy positioned.. It looks awesome.

I had to return the Quick UK tail blade grips because the genius that was putting them together broke the tip of his Allen wrench inside the head of the screw and I could not seat my wrench to undo the hub, so I can check the thrust bearings

So I put on the Align grips after I took them apart and greased the bearings. They look very nice and they are nice and tight, no play or anything.

Glenn,

It came with long links and only two short ones for the main blade grips. You need two more short ones for the flybar cage links. The long ones were too tight on mine and I had to cut them shorter with the Dremel.

I ordered some some short ones from Esprit Model and I will change the flybar cage ones eventually.

No, no short ones in the kit, just four of them for the main blades, one for the elevator A frame and all the rest of them were long.

I still like the 500 a lot and now with the CC ICE 75 on it, the 35C and 45C batteries, she is a screamer... I get 2800rpm + on Idle Up 2 in Gov. mode

The 700 LE is sweet, it looks nice and I can't wait to fly it.

How much you paid for the case Glenn, if I may ask? You can PM me if you like..

I'm going on a four day trip tomorrow, so no building for a few days

Today worked on the tail. The Spartan is in, updated to the latest firmware (2.01), links are at 90, blades at 8 degrees of pitch in rate mode and the gyro configured. Very easy, by the way.

I also configured the SwithGlo, programmed the mixes and in Normal flight mode, when I flip the Gear switch, SwitchGlo buzzes, which is a good sign

I think I'm done with the tail setup for know. Next is throttle setup and Rev. limiter calibration.

Here is some pics from today:

I was setting up throttle servo yesterday, watched the Finless video. I setup using the Align DS 620 four star servo horn (just like it looks on the Align manual). The ball is one hole in from the top and thie link is at 90. On the side of the motor (OS 91HZ)the link is at 90 and the ball is one hole in from the top on the "J" side of the horn.

In order to get full throw at full throttle my Throttle ATV is at 127% and the low end with the throttle at around idle with trim in the middle, is at 87%. When I go trim all the way down, throttle is closed and no servo binding.

Are those acceptable end points or should I get closer to 100%? Do you guys think I have to lengthen the link and readjust the 90 on the throttle side?

Please let me know.

In order for the governor to work properly, you should be close to 100% as possible!!

Panos. First make sure the distance from screw to ball are same on both arms. If they are you shopuld be able to give your end points to 107 on both ends. Start over at 107 on both thro stick down no trim. Should get you full throttle. Call me and I can talk you thru it if you need. 786-255-1759

i'm curious as to why you think this is true. governors measure blade rpm, not throttle position. governor's engage based on throttle position, but that is measured by stick movement, not value.

Gov. I've setup won't setup properly unless the throttle is very near 100/-100 (or 100/0 depending on your radio).

This case should be easy to fix by just moving the servo wheel one spline over.

Here is a great writeup on throttle setup. It's in a Raptor but same principle on just about any glow setup.

Good input guys, I appreciate it. I'm on four day trip now, getting home Sunday night. I'll be working on the throttle Monday.
I'll try for 100% throws.
Glenn I'll call you buddy, thanks.

Change what hardware?

I have 4 T700N now with stock bolts.
I have stripped one head so far after 4 builds and 5 rebuilds.
And that one was because I had my power driver set to tighten rather than loosen.
I have MIP/Thorpe hand drivers, and high quality hardened tips for my power driver (one of the big RC car companies?)

I never use ball drivers, and I make sure my tools are in good shape.
I see no reason to pay a lot of money to change out stock bolts
I got a 700N for Xmas as well, and I use Thorpe allen wrenches, and I now have a stock bolt that I will have to Dremel out. Blue Locktite is too strong for the Align button-head bolts. All the bolt heads in my kit are way oversize, such that the Thorpe driver has a really sloppy fit, and if the Locktite bonds as it is supposed to, good luck getting them out.

Ok, setting the throttle servo is officially a pain in the butt.

This is what it looks like now. I am 100% ATVs at fully open and closed with throttle trim all the way closed, but at middle stick the throttle is at the forward middle tick mark not the one in the middle.

I don't know what else to do, maybe I'll start with ATVs at 107% like Glenn said.

I followed the setup to the "T" on the sight that Heli Davy recommended. Here is some pics, check closer and you can see the tick mark at 50 IN/50 OUT:

I also, bought a JR heavy duty three way switch and used the aluminum plate that came with it, drilled two holes and attached it with JR rubber grommets behind it on the switch that came with the AR 7100/R. Much sturdier setup that way and vibration free.

If you measure the distance from the centre of the servo horn to the centre of the throttle horn, that is the required length of the link rod at the centre of the ball links.

By having a linear throttle curve set the the throttle to 1/2 open now with the servo at half open find the position of the servo horn where it will make a 90 degree angle toward the engine. Set the throttle rotor to half open and with the throttle horn loose put the link on. Now without the throttle rotor moving do the screw up.

Now you can adjust the atvs to get full throttle and a tickover.

Andy from Sandy,

Thanks very much, I will do that tomorrow. I did that the first time and could not get near 100% ATVs. I had 125 High and 87 Low with the trim all the way down.
I read somewhere that if the ATVs are not near 100% and they are out of whack, then the Limiter or Governor has hard time with the Governing the
throttle

Today I installed the skids and bottom frame. The canopy is all set with the grommets and tried it on. She looks awesome.

I even took some pictures with my 500 next to it for size comparison.

Here you go.

Still have to do electronics placement, final head setup with blades on, install the Hatori pipe and finalize the throttle setup.
