I wonder how hard it would be to maintain pitch stability with that configuration...

I loved the movie, even after knowing the basic storyline and reading all the complaints about it being Dances with Wolves or Pocahantis. I even enjoyed it despite the environmental messages. I am certainly no environmentalist but I didn't have a problem with the messages the movie sent. I enjoyed the tech, I enjoyed the retelling of a familiar story. I didn't even see it in 3D. I can't wait for the dvd to come out so I can watch it again. It was just a good experience. I don't take politics and bias into a movie, what's the point. Movies exist to entertain me, not confirm or deny my personal belief system. People would have less ulcers and life problems if they didn't take their baggage to the movies. It's not like it was a documentary or anything.

As far as if it would be viable as a model, the only challenge I see is creating a system to articulate the rotor pods and be strong enough to do it. The fuse could be fabbed. A person could even cheat and keep the rotors fixed and build it with two collective pitch heads ala Twinn Rexx if they just want the appearance without the complications.

I went to see it in 3D Friday night. It's hands down, the best movie since the Empire Strikes Back!

Loved it, can't say enough about it!

When seen in 3D it's a visually stunning movie .

However the story is nothing new and is VERY predictable .

There are very few new stories, only new ways to tell them. This movie takes a pretty standard story we have all seen a few times and tells it in a way that hasn't been done before. I'm not easily impressed, but I know what I like.

To be honest, the last movie I saw that told a pretty fresh story with just a few borrowed things is District 9. That movie blew me away, and that doesn't happen easily. Things kept happening that I didn't quite expect, and I like that unpredictability. I told my wife if Avatar smoked my ass more than D9 did, that is an accomplishment. Heck, my wife who doesn't care much for scifi was left speechless by D9. She can't say enough good things about Avatar, and she has 7 years of real (expensive) higher education to back up her intellect.

Movies are about how you feel at the end of it. If you didn't give two rat's asses about the characters or what happens to them, then it fails. If you forgot you need to fix the car and you need to pay your mortgage because you are immersed for two hours, it did it's job. It's not about pseudo intellectual stuffy snob critical crap like how this and that should have been that and this if only those did what. It's about how you feel when the credits roll.

And of course all the liberal anti-imperialist cliches. White people are bad, blue people are beautiful, living in a natural enviroment and oh so cool. Won't stop me from seeing it (and giving them their money) but it would be nice if they could get a more original theme.

Saw the standard version a couple weeks ago, and then i-max 3d version Avitar yesterday. Very enjoyable either way. i wouldn't drive 100 miles to see it in 3D, but cross town.... yea. Definitely.

Fantastic movie,Cameron does it again. Is it true that Al Gore was an executive producer.Seriously though,a brilliant film,i was there for the duration. The imagination of all those involved never ceases to amaze in films like this. How long will it be before we see one of those helicopters.
