If you watch the other version of the video posted on the web, you see that much of the flight is on the front part of the stage. If he lost control it would have been an event.... Think of what a 90 powered scale heli would have been like on stage. THAT would have been dangerous beyond words.

Beyond that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the performance?

It wouldn't have happened in a USA talent contest because the organisers would not have allowed the risk. Nor would it have happened in the UK, so no big deal! Let other countries deal with things in their own way, unless they have WMDs* then we will invade

*WMD optional.....

BTW & IMO, the fun fly example gets a pass. Everyone there, by being there and clearly into the hobby were aware of and informed of the activity. After all it was a FUN FLY, key word being flyRIP ROMAN

The difference is before that even happens Ron Lund comes out and tells everyone exactly how dangerous it is and that they have been warned.
if they dont agree to leave now.

and yes some people did leave.

and on top of that everyone there is a heli pilot and knows the risks..

I was there and most of us were spectating from protected areas away from the heli.

That would have been ok if the pilot was required to stand by the judges and fly only over the stage.
Makes hardly any difference if something goes really wrong (eg blade breaks loose) but it would reduce the risks a bit.

That would be opt-out and I think that's not OK too. You should inform the people before they come in that they risk serious or even lethal injury

The JK stunt indoor show is the last part of a 2 day fun fly event held at Rons HeliProz South.

It is the last event on Saturday night after the banquet ends.
so it is perfect in how he does this.

the people that don't agree at that point their weekend ends and they go home..
the crazy peeps stay an extra hour to watch JK do some pretty crazy things and then the Event ends for all.

not even close to the same as this.

The looks on there faces was priceless. They were amazed and somewhat intimidated. I think they kinda new it was dnagerous and were caught off guard. I bet they had not really considered how dangerous they are. The pilot should be the one to realize that. I think he is an idiot.Compass Atom 500
