I have a Ion X with the single stage gearing on a Actro motor.
Just for curiousity sake, what other motors can be used with the s/s gearing like the Actro does?

thanks in advance

Curtis

Curtis,

I run SS Ion-x with;

10s; Actro 32-3 (555kv) 10:1 ratio (100t/10t) govern to 1850-1900 HS

15s; Actro 32-4 (414kv) 10:1 ratio (100t/10t)govern to ~2000 HS

When new 111t MA maingears (for new Fury55 series) come out I'm going to try these on my 15s set-up in order to get the HS down a bit.

I'm still using the stock Ion-x SS actro shaft extension (that fits on the back of the Actro motors) and have not had any problems. One thing I did that has helped is I doubled up the bottom motor plate (between the skids). This helps keep the motor a lot more stable and minimises gear wear imho.

Other motors would work but you'd have to modify the motor mounts and/or get longer motor shafts. That's what's kept me using Actro's only.

Cheers,
TomC

Thanks TomC

I just wanted to see if you can use other motors with the s/s gearing. without having to modify the motor, or making new mounting brackets.

cheers

Can't think of any other motors that would work...you could use almost
any motor on the X2. I have a Scorpion on mine.

Hey NFFD,

You should be able to use a Scorpion HK4035-560 as a replacement for the actro 32-3.

Actro 32-3 = 555KV
Scorpion HK4035-560 = 560KV

So if you use the Scorpion for example you would get a miniscule higher head speed.

For example:

Actro on 10S with 10.1 ratio.

10*3.7*555 = 20535. 20535 / 10.1 = 2033 HS (You then govern it down)

Scorpion on 10S with 10.1 ratio

10*3.7*560 = 20570. 20570 / 10.1 = 2036 HS (You then govern it down)

Hope that answers your question?

Cheers,
Warrick

Without some serious mods there is no way to mount a Scorpion in the X1 frames.
