Hi,

I've just bought the V-Bar and having read through the manual I just wanted to get some advice/confirmation before I start as this is my first FBL conversion:

So a few questions I have are:

Am I right in thinking that:

1. In my transmitter (DX7) I need to set my swashplate type to normal (i.e. not eCCPM) as the VBar is going to take over mixing? And that I need to set all my servos to zero trim and subtrim, then adjust mechanical set up as necessary when in setup mode?

2. The tail gyro aspect of the V-Bar is head holding only (like the AVCS mode on a GY611), hence there is no need for a remote gain function (this being replaced with the Bank Switching function)? SO Will I also need to adjust the mechanical set up of the tail linkage?

Does anyone have a good set of set up files that I could use as a starting point?

thanks

ps. wouldn't it be nice if Manufacturers notched a pitch guage into the head yoke and blade holders!

One servo in the DX-7 as the VBAR does all the mixing and the gains for the tail are all done in the VBAR program also.
Use one of the presets for your heli and that will be a great starting point. Good luck......Ron

i found the vstabi user wiki invaluable. i never would have gotten my v3.6 vbar working without it.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I put my t/r servo control horn at 90 degrees and then make the pushrod long enough so that my pitch slider is halfway in the middle of its travel. Then I am done with the mechanical setup on the tail.

So do I leave my transmitter Swashplate setting as 3 Servos (120 ccpm) or change it to normal?

Just found the answer: change to normal

After making sure heli will hover safe with swash settings and tail, motor, etc safe and stable go back to PC and under tail you will be able to select rate mode hover to track tail mechanically . After tail is tracked go back and put to vstabi.

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Set the servos to zero trim and subtrim for starters, but use the subtrims to calib rate the TX to the VBar during setup. You want to see zero values for the servos on the setup screen. Also make SURE you don't get any trim change going from normal to idle up or throttle hold (the DX7 remembers different trim positions for each flight mode, so make sure the trims are centered in ALL modes)
