I have been flying my IONX with the TP 5s4p 8000mah packs for a 10s pack. These packs are the stick version.

I was just wondering what others where using, By the looks of the space, when the canopy is on, that I can only use stick style packs, it doesnt look like the brick style would allow for the canopy to go back on.

any info. is greatly appreciated

Curtis

Packs...
Hey Curtis...I actually flew my ION X last summer with 5s 3700mah and 5s 4200mah Outrage packs strapped to the sides...Canopy fit okay...I also ran 6s packs strapped to the sides for a while and had no issues...I don't remember what I had to do to make the canopy fit...but it only took me like 5 minutes to do..

Anthony, with the brick style packs of the 5s, the canopy didnt need any mods.? or mild stretching, I think if I get some new ones I will stay at the 10s voltage.

Thanks man

Nope...
I ran 5s packs saddled to the sides with no problems...I think I just had to run them further back a bit...but the CG was still perfect..

I wish I had a pictureof the heli without a canopy on...but I don't...

here's a couple with it on..as you can see...the packs still stayed hidden under the canopy..

NFFD,

In general, batteries up to 40mm wide fit no problem. Wider ones start to stretch the canopy a bit, unless you modify the battery support widths.

I've very recently been trying out some new Turnigy 5s1p 30C 5000mahr x 2 packs and these fit ok and seem to work fine albeit they are a bit heavy (660g each).

Cheers,
TomC

Those pics of the ION X are actually from last summer...

That was one of my last flybarred machines

I no longer have the ION or any flybars...

I have two 6s 5000mAH packs for my logo10. I put them in my ion tray and put the canopy on. It fits I guess my Ion is going 12s

I will be replacing the gearing this weekend to get my HS I want.

Thunder Power has some killer 40C 5S 6500mah saddle packs. But retail on the set is $800. Their weight is approx. 30oz. ea. Oh......how much fun to be able to afford it all!
