Well I finally finished the sponson struts and fitted the mechanics on the frame mount and floor to make sure all clearances are good. I also finished the Co Pilot. As you can see he is waiting for his pilot to show up but at least he is checking the chart before flying.

Well, still working with the paint, decals, lettering and clearcoat. Unfortunatley there were some areas of the paint that the clear coat did not stick to properly and it wrinkled the paint??????? so some light sanding and refinishing is in order.

did you use the same type/mfg'r of clear as base coat??? I've had that problem before. It's either that, or you didn't let the base coat dry long enough before clearing. Nothing worse than walking out to check your clear and see it all wrinkled up!!!

Hi fla boy, yes I did use the same typ and brand for the clear. I waited 3 days to clear but probably should have waited a week or so. No problem that a little light sanding and touchup will not fix. I will wait longer this time.

Thanks Chief, There is some emotion in the build as this is the first chopper I crewed in plus this particular number was lost during a mishap while searching for a missing boater. Sure would like to maiden it at the hut so my heli b***h Zolan could carry it for me!

Lights, float bags, wipers and antenna's. If UPS had not damaged my blades, she would have been airborn this weekend. I was flying the mechanics with three 550's and decided to switch to 600's as the scorpion motor is begging for more. Waiting for another set and then the much anticipated test flight.

Very nice work ..........what a joy to admire!
It would be great to see a photo shoot over water, you'd be hard pressed to tell it from the full scale.

Sweet, thanks Burl for sharing! I have a few pics like that myself, and the best part of being assigned to the helicopter crew was.......... we could leave.

Here she is in the air.

Thanks Dr. Tim, I have always admired your models and I love the shades in your Puma.

No problem Rodan, the picture is definatley a keeper. My plan is to make a plaque with several pictures and present it to our Coast Guard Air Station in Hawaii. I built this model as a tribute to the helicopter and crew we lost while I was stationed there. They were conducting a search and rescue case in bad weather and unfortunately crashed into a mountain. Pretty cool to see this number fly after so many years.

What a great model!!! I worked on the tie down crew for USCGC Steadfast (WMEC-623) in 1976.
