How would you interpret this?
I'm trying to decide if this means 36 calendar months or 36 academic months (4 years)
Individuals will generally receive 36 months of full-time education benefits. This should allow an individual to receive benefits for a four-year undergraduate degree based on a nine-month academic year.

I've looked up & down the website for the Chapter 33 GI Bill for the definite answer.

I'll eventually get a definite answer from the VA, I just want to make sure I'm not alone thinking that sentence is poorly worded and confusing.

It barely affects me, since I'm entitled to 48 months worth of benefits no matter what.

If the answer was in plain English, then why can it be interpreted two different ways?

The first way is 36 months means 36 months, or 3 years.

The 2nd way it can be interpreted, since they say, "This should allow an individual to receive benefits for a four-year undergraduate degree based on a nine-month academic year." could mean 4 years (36 academic months)

It is entirely possible to get a four-year degree in 3 years.

its based entirely on academic months ( time your enrolled in school) not calendar months. I went through this about a year ago.

It's predecessor is Chaptor 30 (the regular MGIB).

The two programs aren't even remotely similar.

Don't forget to look into the "Yellow Ribbon"
Program as well.
I just transferred all my bennies to my 9 year old daughter. I did incur a 3 year service committment, but well worth it. This is a great retention program.
