Yes Malc
only slightly, you dont need much, fly then recheck to see if the colour is darkening up ,it wont take much to get it spot on.Keep checking by pulling the plug till you get the desired colour after each flight.

Plug
I would stay with the champion for now,it will take a while for a brand new plug to "colour" up,stick with the old and keep the other for when your run in.Take some Hob nobs and a cup of tea for a colour reference next time you fly

Maybe this will help.. one is from several gallons, and the other one is from a couple of tanks of break in,, the one on the LEFT is what it should look like,
from the pic that you posted, your close, really close, If it's running good, and temps are ok,, I'd leave it alone, but you can always richen just a smigget, about the thickness of the screwdriver blade,, It's always better to error on the rich side,, XGM/VGM

OK thats good news then.

I`ve now richened it up very very slightly as recommended only about the width of a screwdriver blade.

When the weather clears over here I`ll test fly it again, take the tacho with me and check/readjust that normal mode curve to get somewhere near the 1560 mark.

I`ve also now fitted that new plug as I already have it.

You may know when it is right or not by how the motor runs, mine is now set so the plug colour is correct but if I go a tiny bit richer it runs like a dog

Just come back from down the field with the T Rex 700 and the Spectra.

First flight with the gasser since I changed the plug and richened the mixture up by that `width of a screwdriver blade`.

On lift off the headspeed was still to high in normal mode and so I have opi-tached the head and lowered it to the correct recommended speed.

This was so much higher that my ID1 setting and a few 1/2 clicks down on the curve sorted that.

It now goes through from normal up to ID2 fine.

The mixture has also been richened buy another tiny amount as well as I experienced some bogging in ID2 in full power climb outs.

Great fun and running really nicely
