My sentence... I use it all the time.

"Don't let anyone tell you these are models, they are toys have fun with them and play.

If you start thinking of them as models your taking it all too seriously imho.

I have nerves of steel but thumbs of jelly!

What if you refer to them as "machines"?

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

OK I don't do one sentence well. Here are a few...

GET A SIMULATOR AND USE IT.

Plan on crashing. No one gets out alive. Do not fall in love with your heli such that crashing will make you upset. Crashes happen and if you can't stand to see a particular model go in, get a model you care less about. If you want a bench queen, get a bench queen and NEVER fly it. Heck even bench queens get knocked off the bench which is basically a low altitude blade stop auto so don't buy it at all. Crashes are directly related to expense and fear. If you have a cheap model you care nothing about, it never crashes for some reason. The bench queen will get hit by lightning if that's what it takes to damage it.

Plan on being a mechanic and electrician. Plan on spending half your time or so tinkering.

To minimize crashing, learn all orientations and fly high enough to recover from mistakes. Use the sim. Take it slow! You aren't going to get this stuff overnight. If you don't have it down pat on the sim, don't try it at all. You should never try a manuever on the heli unless it is pretty much mastered on the sim, and then, try it up high on the heli as it will NOT be the same as the sim.

Bling only after you've budgeted for gas and crash parts. Realize bling won't make you fly better. Flying makes you fly better. There probably are very few setups today, even the one people say are no good, that cannot do some great stunting. If you are having trouble with a maneuver, you don't need a new heli or part, you need to fly more. Get back on that sim.

Sorry that was a long sentence. If I have to be held to one, the key is get a simulator and use it.

Once you start in rc heli's, it will be lifetime addiction ... you will never quit even if you DO quit

Keep IT to two heli's, don't be tempted by all of them UNLESS you have a good credit card

Cheers

Don't buy a ferrari if you can't afford to fix it

"Meaning" don't buy a avant aurora E if you can't afford to fix it after a crash, start with somthing that is known to bounce and is very cheap to fix with parts everywhere. Simulator is a given

If you only have to bend over once to pick it up it's a good landing.
