has anybody else listened to bill's webcast on the g20 on the al things that fly forum?
Wow lots of great info.sounds like headspeed won't be an issue, from what it sounds like the motor likes high 13000 rpm and if it comes with 14 /84,my calculater puts that at 2300 headspeed. It should should be pretty manuverable even being a half pound heavier then the raven.

sorry for your loss bill.

According to the manual there is no electronic ignition provided in the kit that comes with the engine. Is that correct??? If true, which ignition is recommended for the G20 on this heli?

maybe over a 2 year period if I don't blow the engine
Or crash it beyond repair...

the ignition comes with the motor
So the manual was written as if the kit was not offered with the engine included. I see, thanks for the info.

Since gasser motors are coming to smaller airframes, has there been any thought to recovering some of the power/weight ratio through the use of higher octane fuels, like racing fuel? Or would these be detrimental to the engine?

you need high compression to make high octane fuel work properley, other wise you go back wards, from what bill was saying on his webcast the g20 is a lower compression motor, 87 octane probably the best power, but myself i will be running 91 to give some safetey margin for accidental lean runs.Atleast till i get a feel for the motor and how to tune it.

can gass motors run on other fuels that would give better power while still being cheap? (diesel?) or achohol? or something?

""can gass motors run on other fuels that would give better power while still being cheap""

yes,, but not quite as cheap,, you can run Gasser Engines on Glow Plane Fuel, usually 5% Nitro with about 6% oil to 12% oil,, you will gain from 300 to maybe 600 RPMs,,

or you can mix Gasoline with Glow Fuel, still you want only 5% Nitro Per Gallon and a Oil that will mix with both Gasoline and Alcohol,,

if you use enough Glow Fuel Mixed with Gasoline you can use a Glow Plug,, 2 to 1,, 2 Parts Gasoline to 1 Part Alcohol you can use a Glow Plug without an ignition (see link),,

Radikal on order and have questions
Hello All
I have ordered the Radikal with gt frame hd head and engine. I am new to gassers but have been flying nitro Raptor 50SE 53tt, Trex 600 os 50 and Raptor 30v2 with os37. I am looping rolling flipping etc. My questions are regarding the Radikal

1-What servos, am thinking the align 610 cyclic and 650 for tail, and possible spartan gyro or a 6100 logitec...
2-Can a rev limiter work on these gas engines as I have it on all the nitros.
3-will this heli start with regular starter using the 6mm hex head starter. Or is the pull start a much better option but more weight.
4-I hover a mid stick what might my throttle curve be, also what type of curve for stunt 1 and 2.
5-What type of pitch curve to match the #4 question.

I have flown gas planes so will follow directions to set engine but am open to suggestions, am going to order 620 blades and the suggested muffler. are there any building tips for this heli.
And finally is there much of a difference in flying gas versus nitro.. Will the radikal be radikal

Thanks in advance

bec

Does the .50 size all metal rotor head upgrade will fit in G20?
yes

What is the difference between the LT and HD rotor head?
HD is from the predator
LT is from the Raven and has a thicker spindle [/quote]

Thanks Blade...has anyone here got the CF frame version?

can't wait....sleepless nights!

bec123,, this Radikal is a Brand-New release, as for Century's R&D guys there is only 1 other short flight-report about it at this time on RR,, but maybe I can help with a few questions,,

1) well I have read many times over the years that guys have used 130oz Torque Servos for 90 size helis, so I would think you would want to use something around 100oz or more on the Radikal for your flying skills,,

2) yes a Rev Limiter or Governor will work, how to attach the Magnet I'm not sure of right now,

3) yes you can start the 20cc with a typical Heli Wand/Starter, but you may "may" need more power than you would for a 50 size heli,,, the optional Pull Start is made to be removed for flight after the Engine has been started,,

4, 5, 6, & 7) as said above, the Radikal is a Brand-New release, you will have to get Curve and Build tips and flying Ability from those that have been lucky enough to have flown it..

""And finally is there much of a difference in flying gas versus nitro""

Good analogy Wasp...
The weedeater engine is going to have WAY MORE torque than your nitro engines, hence the difference in the gearing(also due to the rpm differences). If you were to use an engine where the flywheel was still in place you would see that headspeed would also remain more consistent, but lots of these engines remove the flywheel to lighten them up,plus it allows for faster recovery.

Thanks for the quick response. I have been busy. My heli is in customs as of 29th so am waiting.

Question to all: Will the Align servos 610 or 620 be good for cyclic I did read 100oz or more in your post but not sure of align specs as it is in kg. And will the spartan be a good gyro for this gasser. I ordered the hd head and it apppears that some are missing mixing arms but am confident that century will take of this matter if I am short,

I have ino-lab or 8717's servos and logitec combo gyro or 770/8900 I can take out of other helis but really don't want to so hoping something like the aligns/spartan combo will work.

thanks in advance

Are you talking of compltelly removing the flywheel or just partial and is this for airplanes included in this comment? I have not seen a 26-27 compltelly without a flywheel run in a heli. Maybe a 20 only then?
