Welcome to the world of TT engines. Some work, some don't. It's a real crap shoot. I sent both of my carbs back and had them updated. One works OK, the other one is now a parts carb. The real issue with this carb is that it uses a cammed barrel which moves in and out with rotation while OS carbs don't use a cammed barrel. The OS carb is more stable in terms of needle settings. TT needs to re-engineer the carb. The rest of the engine is exemplary in terms of machining and performance. The carb isn't worth the time.

Sounds like your hidden third needle might have moved on you. It will have the same effect as moving the low end screw. I had to do the ole loctite trick on my third needle and its been fine ever since.

The Redline is also tempermental with plugs after a few gallons. I change mine out at the first sign of trouble now. Put a fresh OS #7 or Enya #3 and see if that brings back your idle. Otherwise suspect the carb needles.

Also check your fuel lines. Today I found a split line to my fuel filter when a drop of fuel hit the blacktop. Was having some minor tuning issues that went away with the new fuel line in place.

Here is a copy of a PM I sent to norsman regarding the third needle on the TT carb:
No, just take the arm off. I can tell you though that it is easier to adjust the distance with the carb off of the engine. I can also tell you that it will make little difference in most cases and here is why; the carb is preloaded by a spring so that it maintains pressure against the carb stop pin in one direction, this is critical. Once the carb barrel starts to lock up due to engine vibration the distance between the high and low needles won't be maintained because the spring is now not doing its job and when this happens the mixture will change running lean at some points and rich at other points and not holding a consistent needle setting. You could change the diameter of the stop pin so that the barrel won't have as much clearance side to side which can make matters worse if the barrel should lockup in the full open position and take out your throttle servo due to stalling.

All in all, in the current environment that this carb works in a camming style of carb isn't the best solution. This is one reason that the OS carb does such a good job holding a consistent needle setting due to the fact that the mixture is dependant on rotary motion and not a camming action.
Once the carb starts sticking the game is pretty much up. The relationship between the HS needle and the third needle can't be maintained. The barrel has to float freely and be preloaded by the spring.

You can change plugs, try different fuels, adjust the third needle, shim the head, call in a Witch Doctor or get with an exorcist, it really doesn't matter the problem will still be there. The best answer is for TT to engineer a proper carb. It is strange to think that a camming style of carb is now out of vogue when we used to run Supertiger Carbs for years in place of the hideous 7H and 8H carbs from OS but the ST carbs worked and they were designed right.
