Best tail servo for Rave 450

Well I had it runnin sweet. I have the Neu in mine and once my 5S packs came in I had plenty of head spead and it was smooth as glass. Well for 3 Flights anyways thats when the HiTec HSG5084MG seized up on me. I had it up about 40-50 feet and it went into a death spin. I hit throttle hold but it was movin way to fast to help much and of course if hit the deck on the one small spot of asphalt in the whole field I was at. I found a piece of the CF frame 15 feet away the motor broke off completly.... it was bad,thanks HiTec. Anyways ive ordered all the parts nothing $320 bucks cant fix but I will not use another hitec servo. Whats the best tail servo I can get? I was thinking JR or maybe Futaba. I have a GY520 on it and am thinking of getting a Solid G.

If you change gyros the Mini-G is better suited for electric helis than the Solid-G. And we use the JR 3500G.

I hope this helps some.

BrianBuild it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Ok im gonna go with the 3500. Do you think the mini G is better than the GY520? And price not being an issue will the mini G really perform better than the solid G on this chopper?

Umm i was just going to order the 3500 and its got nylon gears. is that the one i want or do they make a metal gear version? i prefer metal

I think the 520 and the mini-g are very similar, and YES, i think the Mini-g is better than the solid.

yes nylon gears on the tail is fine, itll develop less slop then metal gears.Justin - Team Horizon, Team Byron

The 3400/3500 with the Mini-G is exceptional. Don't be afraid of the nylon gears in the 3500. It is a bigger servo than the 285 mg's and is very durable. Been running both servos for over a year and lots of flights with no issues whatsoever..
