Ordered my Pantera-finally!

I've been on the fence about getting a new helicopter. A) Budget B) I'm sort of getting back into the hobby. Never really out, but you know--family comes first--so I haven't burned more than 4 gallons this year. However, 2 of those gallons have been in the past 2 weeks, so that's why I've gotten the bug again. I have one of the original Tiger 50's, but after a crash I modified it with the grips, spindle and flybar from a Pantera. I like a heli that someone actually stands behind, which I why I bought the Tiger to begin with. JB helped me when I had annoying runout and vibe problems. Since then, those growing pains have been fixed--as most if not all of the issues have been. So I'm curious to see the difference between the Tiger and Pantera. Anyone care to comment on the feel or flight characteristics? Does is roll better, have better collective pop?

Also, any build tips would be great (although I'm sure JB has plenty in the manual). I'm particularly interested in the pinion bearing. That has always been my biggest gripe, the pinion bearing comes loose and makes that awful noise after just a few flights. Then the whole heli has to get torn down to fix it (temporarily). If this issue is improved in the Pantera, I'll be even more excited to get my UPS package this week!

As you can see, I just want a reliable, consistent, balanced performing heli (I love high speed flight--probably boring to you pro's).must have been a downdraft

You'll be pleased with the way that the pantera flys as it is a smooth flyer.

Go to JB's website and download the instructions then read them twice and also look at the pro tips. It will go together very easily with no problems.

My only other recommendations is to assemble tank and pressure check before you install and check all bolts in the head(it is pre-assembled).

Are you going with a 50 engine or opting for JB's BBC.

Getting ready to order 2 more kits this week myself.

As for tips.

Make sure you replace the cluck line that the kit comes with, or you will be in the next few months.

As for the bearing on the pinion. Pop the bearing off the pinion as soon as you get it, then take a demel with a diamond type tip something like these http://cgi.ebay.com/6-Pcs-Jewelry-D...id=p3286.c0.m14 and rough up the inside race on the bearing. Then put a peice of masking tape over the bearing, cut the center out, take some JB Weld and dab it on the pinion where the bearing was, press on the bearing with the tape side down, clean the extra JB Weld out of the pinion teeth. Let it sit over night, then pull out as much tape as you can, put the sucker in and go fly her.

Thanks! I'll do that with the pinion. I tried JB weld on my tiger but I don't think I roughed the bearing enough. I'm staying with a 50 size engine. For now I'll be using my Hyper, so I'm just going to have one running nitro heli. I might get the OS 55 in the future and make the Tiger my night ship, but that's when I have more spare $$ sitting around. As for the clunk line, I've been using Hayes lines inside the tank, but just a bit short because they expand. I already had the experience of a flame out when the clunk line pretty much dissolved. Luckily I was just in forward flight and it auto'd down easily.must have been a downdraft

Marty if you are asking if i got my kits, yes they showed up wed. I should have the night bird ready tonight.

I have not started to build the day bird yet.

If I build any more Panteras I need to not upgrade them no matter how much I find "needs". It makes them too expensive. Are you building these stock? What type of night stuff are you using?
