Stock ESC for Scorpion HK-2221-8 V2 Brushless Motor (3595Kv) ?
Can the stock 450SE 35amp esc be used with a Scorpion HK-2221-8 V2 Brushless Motor (3595Kv) without the fear of burning up the esc? Does anyone run this setup with a 3s LiPO? If so, what pinion would you recommend? If the esc is too small, what would be the recommended minimum size esc to get?

Been using the stock ESC with the scorpion for over a year now - never an issue, comes back luke warm.
I put on a Eagle tree recorder and TRYING to bog the motor I was only able to draw 27A.

Thanks guys for all the info. Is everyone running 13T pinions? I just did not want my daughters boyfriend to fry his esc.

I just installed the -8 with a 13t pinion on my pro and the headspeed is significantly down from the stock motor. I'm actually quite disappointed as many have said that this setup is the "cats meaw." I should have gotten the -6 but I wanted better flight times.

Perhaps I'll try a 14t pinion to see if that'll wake things up.

And I'm running a flat 100% curve on the stock ESC.

BL,

I ran the -8 with the stock 35A esc on my RC TEK SkyShark. I had all kinds of overheating problems. Eventually the high-temp cutoff shut the whole thing down while in flight. After I put the heli back-together I did some research and discovered the 35A ESC could not handle that amperage of the -8. I tried the scorpion commander 45A ESC and the esc/motor never got more than warm after running 4 lipo packs back to back. As for the head speed, that's another mater.

Ted
I always have fun. Some times are more fun than others.

how good or new of a lipo make sall the difference with -8 13t. it loves a 30c

14t will bog a little and you will have to watch your collective management

I'm running brand new Hyperion 35C VX packs. It sounds like I may just need to go with the -6/11t.

you can go through 25c all day long, i fly them to i just like how cool the 30c comes down compared.
my only point was that on this motor its easy to tell a old lipo from a new one.

Bl get a exernal esc and try 4s on a 11t i have to govern my -8 down.

11t %100 TC and you will bend your mainshaft in flight it spins so fast.
