Just wanted to share my pain
After a boom strike, I rechecked & replaced all parts as needed. Did a test run in the basement, I didn't hear the normal initialization beep from the motor/esc. Unplugged the batt & plugged it back in, still didn't hear the normal beeps.

Rebind the TX/RX and then tried plugging the battery in again. It still didn't beep like it normally does, I tried spooling up and heard a small "poof" and smoke came out from my ESC.

I immediately killed the throttle and unplugged the battery. I think that the ESC is done and I'm grounded until I can get that fixed.

The whole time the elevator, aileron, rudder, worked just fine.

I'm so bummed!

Thanks!
Have had this Furion since IRCHA of this year, it's been a pretty solid bird.

So far I have replaced once main frame, 3 regular main shaft, 3 flybar, 3 boom, 2 tail fins, 1 set of Radix 325, 1 set of Sab 320, 1 set of Align 325 V2, 1 tail rotor hub, 1 horizontal fin clamp, 1 flybar support tube, 1 anti-rotation guide and we'll ad the ESC to that list.

I'm definitely in that 30/70 rule so far for this Furion.

What does that mean?

Thanks.

What does the 70/30 rule mean...
30% flying while the other 70% is spent fixing or trimming the heli.

At least for me anyways!

Yep... She's been sitting on the shelf since the last crash. All repaired and ready to go but just too cold for me right now.

Does anyone know if they released the extended boom conversion kit for the Furion? I've been stockpiling the 350mm Radix and belt just haven't ordered the Mars boom. Wanted to get the MA one if they ever release the kit.

As a retired Electronics ENG/TECH...there is one thing about electronics
They work on smoke and when the smoke comes out; they do not work anymore.

Man sorry about your misfortune; but one thing is for sure, if you stay in this hobby long enough...there will be more to come.

Keep flying...JMHO

Hi Fran,

Scorpion was nice enough to help me with the ESC issue. What you said is also true... I had my first crash when I was only 12 years old with a Kalt Cyclone. That nearly bankrupt a 12 year old kid let me tell you! It took me several long years just to save up for that heli & to get it up in the air. I didn't fly again until recently with the BNF TX/RX, I couldn't refuse.

Now, with the digital FBL system to up the ante I'm really thinking about ditching the flybar. With so many different choices in FBL system (and more to come everyday), I'm not sure which to get. I am really amazed how far the rc hobby & rc industry has come. Wish I would have devoted more time to become a better pilot though.

Back on topic, I just spent about $78 on my other 200 size heli.

PS. Did you or your son picked up a Tempest FAI from Mike545?!

Well "fran and fran sr" are one in the same...I'm the only one flying since 1957 RC
And helis since 1972...the answer to you question is yes I did get it from Mike545.

Why do you ask my friend? Oh buy the way; my Kalt Cyccone was flown with a JR Max 5 channel airplane radio...used "y" harness on pitch and throttle.

It's a BEAUUUUUUTIFUL bird! Would have loved to add it to my shelf queen collection. WOW on the Cyclone! We have come a long way haven't we in the hobby? I remember that I could not afford a mechanical gyro back in the early 90' so I flew w/o one.

Today, we can ad the (almost indestructable) MA Furion landing gear to the list of parts that needed to be replaced. It was way too cold out and I snapped it on a hard landing. Grr... there's another $15.99 + shipping. And I need two of them!

I'm selling my backup mechanic to just fund the main machine. I have 5065's, scorpion 6, 401 and extra TX that I wanted to use in the 2nd airframe. Good thing there's airfrme #3

Will be making it fbl once the dust settles in the FBL shootout.

Right now, I've been crashing the Blade MSR a lot more!!
