if im right dual rates limit the total servo travel

expo, can slow the speed within the center stick but still giving full servo travel,
somebody might be able to explain better

D/R reduce servo travel.

D/R are ideal for airplanes traveling at a high airspeed where full servo throws are not required or desirable.

You can look at it as "end point adjust on a switch"

Matt,, the guys above are telling you right,,
at least until you become a better pilot you want full Swash Deflection so you can have full control of the Swash at all-times if needed, if you want 2 different Rates use 2 different Expo Rates, as many flyers do,, see, even if you do use a lot of Expo you will still have full Swash Deflection if you get into trouble,, just make sure you don't have Binding in the Swash at Full Deflection..

Dual rates lower you total throw which makes center less sensitive.

Expo makes the center less sensitive but still giving you full throw when you need it.

Depening on what you want to accomplish is which you will use but most people use expo, best of both worlds.
