power station question
I've been using the below power station for some time now to charge 2 4S 5000 packs at the same time with my Hyperion Duo. (1C charge) Have had no problems with this setup, but wondering if a bigger better station would charge any faster at 1C? What, if any, advantages would a higher amp power station do for me?

Your Hyperion Duo is a 360watt charger.

At 10% efficency loss that would mean it draw 28,6amp at full speed with 13,8v input.
So I suggest you go with at least a 30A, then you can max out the charger.

NOTE: Hyperion need a powersource at or above 15.0v to run at full speed.
so you will benefit of getting a higher voltage power supply.

For less amount of money;

Note that you need to hook up the cables yourself to that one, including the AC line.

Although it may be true that your power supply may not be large enough to max out your chargers capabilities, the larger power supply will not charge your 2 5000ma batteris any faster.Here I come to save the day !!!

at full speed the Duo can do a 4s pack 4000mah at 2.5C per channel (10.7amp), so it will be alot faster...Gone fishing..or hunting..or something

That is IF you want to charge your lipos over 1C....from what I've always heard and done is you charge your lipos at 1C. Not talking about the newer generation lipos coming out now.

almost all 25+ C packs can be charged at least 2C without ill effects.
Even TP Prolites are ok with 3C.

hyperion's new G3 = 5C, TP45C = 6C

If you are only charging at 1C with a 5000ma pack the 30 amp larger power supply will not be any faster than the 20 amp.

Now if you wish to up your charge current, to 2c I suspect your power supply may not like it much. A few battery manufacturers are claiming their batteries can handle the higher c ratings of 2 or 3 on thier lipopoly batteris using proper balancing chargers.(ususally there own chargers) But personally I think it may reduce your cylces, but that is a whole different topic. Depends on the battery. I would certainly monitor the charge.

But to answer your question on your 2 5000ma batteries charging at 1C, any power supply larger than 15amp would be sufficient. If you use a 30, 40 50 or even 100amp power supply it will not reduce your charging time at 1C.

Most chargers start out with the highest amps and then start decrasing as the charging takes place.
