Converted raptor 30 to 50 Having problem with clutch and clutch bell
I converted my raptor 30 to a 50 and I had it running yesterday and I was hovering it. well to day when I went to start it the clutch bell was turning witch turned the blades for some reason now when I converted it I did not get a new clutch bell all I got was the pinnion gear to put in the clutch bell and when I first put the engine in the heli it was to far up in the clutch bell to where the bell would not turn so I took out the washer in between the fan and the engine and it worked. but like i said it ran yesterday and today it locked up. Do I need to replace the clutch bell and the clutch I don't know. I got a new fan with the conversion kit.

Thank you thats what it was the fan came lose.

If you have a 30 V2 the clutch is the same, but the fan isn't.

Sounds to me like your fan has unscrewed. The 50's need to be really tight, the 30's being more forgiving.

Get a crank-lock tool and lock the crankshaft, then use a lever on the fan to tighten against the crank-lock. Then put the lock-nut in place with a little blue loctite.

The tools are shown in the gallery.

Assuming that you find youre fan is correctly tightened,.
Then open up the engine mounting holes in the frame, i did this to all my v2's, made engine alignment much easier.

Damn Pete. I just looked at your pics in your Gallery and I'm VERY jealous of your shop.

Not meaning to hi-jack the thread. So, where can one purchase the crank-lock tool? I don't have a lathe or other tool to make one. I've been to a lot of online stores, but haven't found one.

Thanks
Dave
I keep on thinking, but nothing's happening. Knuk, Knuk, Knuk

I've used it many times, only regretted it once

I'll probably stick with the tooth brush either in the rear (carefully) or in the crankshaft intake port. Though honestly never had a problem with it on the 50's.

Also, I found that a fan hub tool helps a *lot*. Made my own.
