I sold my Logo because I no longer have any interest to fly 50's. I'm now flying a T700E and am having a lot of fun with it. I'll never have another 90 that will get 6 and a half minutes of flight time, like the logo, but I'm diggin the heavier machine...

This WAS the 700, yes. I crashed both of them in the same week So, I decided it was time for a change.

I am just starting to get more serious about maybe getting a Logo (have been liking them for awhile now though)... and so recently I have been reading up on them more, and I see where some guys are streaching the 600 into a 700.

In reading this thread... am I understanding it correctly - you had an L600 that you converted up to a 700 - but you sold that and are staying with your Trex700e?

If that is right... why are you picking the T700e over the streached L600? What factors helped you make that decision?

Thanks - Brent

To make a long story short...
I did enjoy the stretch...however, it is not a "purpose made" 90, so it has it's shortcomings.

The one way bearings do not last long
The blade bolts bend
Long belt driven tails do not like to be pushed hard
The frames almost always are destroyed in a crashed
Very light airframe (which could be good or bad in some eyes)

The 600 is just meant to be a 50 in the long run...

I'm just enjoying the T700 better right now because it has a torque-tube and it's weighted more like a 90. And most of all, the parts are strong enough to handle the torque that a 90 produces, which IS safer. I can also help out my LHS (Dirt Burner Racing) now, which is a big plus, since they do so much for me.

Hi, not saying you did not make the right choice but here is my 2 cents

-Never heard of the one ways failing, mine has hundreds of flights on it.
-If you use proper long shank bolts 12.9grade from a bolt shop they don't bend unless you crash them
-Tail seems fine?
-Frames I am yet to experience that LOL
-Light yes i agree, even on 12S mine is 4KG RTF, still pretty light, 4.2-4.5 would be better.

I would love to try a trex 700E just to see how it is, but the links wearing and main gear dramas is enough to stop me.
Is your VBAR?

What would you do if mikado make a dedicated 700?

Thanks Mayhem!!
Appreciate your feedback!!

Helicraze - pretty sure the T700 links issue is over now. I haven't seen a problem there for quite awhile, and I fly around allot of 700s it seems these days. The main gear issue also seems to be getting better... but you do still hear of guys stripping them once in a while.

Yes but is this cause every one is running mod 1 gears and quick uk links etc or did align really change something?

^^

Pretty sure they changed the links. Haven't heard that one in awhile. As far as the main gear... not really sure.

Of the guys I fly with regularly... there must be 6 or 7 T700Ns flying all of the time (it is their prefered bird in their fleet, probably because they prefer a 90 overall)... and not one of them has had a problem with the links. Haven't heard about that problem with links in them since last fall/ winter.

I have seen some main gear issues more recently, but I also haven't heard of any for a couple of months now.

Attended 4 pretty large funflys this spring/ summer... and the T700n is every where at those also... and the main gear seems to not be coming up as an issue as of late.

Don't take my info on the main gear as gospel though... I am not 100% certain it has gone away.

Craze...
First of all, I'm not saying one is better than the other. Everyone always likes what they have because it's theirs and they paid for it and it's usually set up the way they like it.

That being said, this is a conversion that I did for a friend of mine. It's not even my heli. What I can tell you, is that I will be building a T700E next. I'm not doggin on logos at all, just stating the facts. It is a VBar machine. I flew it for a while with the flybar setup and now the VBar. I MUCH more prefer the way it flies as a flybarless machine. I sure the E-Aurora and the E-Srimok will fly awesome as well.

I also flew the machine for about 20 flights with the stock MOD 0.7 gear and stripped about 3 of them. I am now running the Mod 1.0, I was also running that on the stretched Mikado. The Mod 1.0 herringbone is much more susceptible to stripping than the straight cut (again from experience) because the up/down placement of the motor and end-play of the motor have to be correct, and have a much smaller tolerance.

Align's link issue has been solved and is not a problem any more. The grip bolt are only 4mm on the logo. Every other 90 on the market uses 5mm bolts for a reason.

The tail is leaps and bounds better than a belt-driven tail! That I know FOR SURE. You may NOT be having problems with your tail and that is fine. However, I fly very fast and do a lot of piro-ing, and trust me, I notice a HUGE difference in the way the tail holds.

I loved my Mikado as a 90 UNTIL I flew a purpose-built 90. I would not go back to a streched 600. If Mikado decides that they are going to release a REAL 90 size airframe in the future (with a shaft-driven tail and bigger/safer head parts), I would consider getting one. However, they do not right now. And, straight from Mikado's mouth, they do not condone the the stretching of their 600 and will not let any of their reps or sponsored pilots fly one, because they are supposed to be setting an example for the market as a whole. That has to tell you something....

Again, not Mikado-bashing here, but it is not made or tested to be a 90. Also, take your one-way out of the heli and look inside...I bet you that the material around the bearings is starting to stretch, if you at pushing your heli hard or using a lot of pitch.

The only real way to tell if the TT is better is to throw a TT on the Logo 600 That way you are comparing apples to apples. The Trex 700 has a totally different tail drive ratio than the Logo 600. Did you try 105mm tails on the Logo?

I agree the larger machine will "bully" the air better but you get that benefit at the price of power and quickness.

I had the Trex 700-e and I like the Logo 600 VBAR better. However the Trex still had the flybar ........Ron

Unless your flying a different logo than I...that is impossible.

Yes I was using 105 tails. The tail held fine, unless I was trying to push it hard.

...and, trust me, it has just as much quickness and power. The only downfall is about 60 seconds of flight time, which, I can deal with for better flight characteristics (period)

Also, anyone (including you) that has a VBar, knows that it makes a world of difference in any heli.

I realize that but a stretched 700 has the same tail drive ratio as a 600. All I am saying is that it is not a fair comparison unless they both had the same final drive ratio or TR speed.

Thanks Shawn, can't wait to meet ya.

It's just so hard to explain to people that, what they have, is not always the best. I've learned over the years, not to become complacent with what I own just because I'm used to it. I like to switch things up every now and again...just to see what's out there and if I'm missing out on anything. And I'm not going anywhere, just flying something new, that's all...no hard feeling towards y'all. (group hug)

Laughingstill...
I realize that but a stretched 700 has the same tail drive ratio as a 600.
This is true, but the belt is much longer and has a much harder time gripping the teeth on the gear with the extra length/slop...and I ran my belt as tight as possible without stressing it too much

Anyway...still getting the vbar tuned at this point, but take a break from Marshall-bashing and enjoy a little "tuning video"

Nice flight, I hope you get it tuned I don't want to come off as bashing you, I just wanted to point out that you were not comparing two like tail systems so it was not quite fair to say one is better than the other. Good luck and good flying!
