Yep, you got me

I looked at the calendar on my desktop. I selected August but I forgot to select 2010 in the drop down.

August 11-15 looks right.

Don't get too set on expected dates yet. The meeting with the AMA has not taken place yet. The plan was/is to have the NATS and IRCHA run back to back next year. The NATS runs from the end of June to the end of July. The heli NATS is usually, I said usually, right after the 4th or the week after that. The thinking is that with both events back to back the NATS will get more exposure and hopefully more entrants. That would make a nifty weeks worth of flying.

FOR EXAMPLE ONLY!!!(My opinion only)
NATS Saturday - Tuesday
IRCHA Wednesday - Sunday

I said EXAMPLE ONLY, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MAY BE DONE. Just slightly closer than some due to involvement with the NATS as a judge and IRCHA as a former officer.

I got those dates from an IRCHA officer and he said the meeting with AMA had taken place, they said no to moving it up. It's not "official" yet, I'm sure it will be announced soon.

Well, that's good news. I guess I'll have to give Dave a call and see what they decided upon. I knew the NATS deal was going to be tricky with all that goes on at the site during the NATS for 6 weeks.

I am looking forward to the 2010 event as well. We have a slew of guys that want to go for the first time. I plan to take the week off as well. I hope all the guy can and do go. Just waiting on the dates too.

Is IRCHA officially part of AMA or do they just use the facility?

IRCHA is a SIG(Special Interest Group) to the AMA. I am pretty sure the main contact between the AMA and IRCHA is Craig Bradely. Craig is also the helicopter board chairman for the AMA (look in the back of your AMA magazine to see all of the chairman and district reps for each indidual group) Craig CD's the Heli NATS, which is partially sponsered by IRCHA. The AMA has several SIG's, and that is how the AMA relies on individual groups, such as IRCHA, to make the AMA a better place for each individual specialty. Such as the Pylon racers, IMAC, IMAA, radio control aerobatics, control line (all different aspects of control line are handled separately). All of these SIG's contribute to the AMA with ideas, rules, etc., etc.

Ok, now you guys can schedule your flights. I feel bad when I can't consistantly drag my sorry a#$ to IRCHA for a day when I read about guys flying in from outside the US just to attend this event. I live 2 hours away.. I'll try to do better this year.
