Tail Belt....
I use a small screw driver or a hex driver and put a little pressure on it and you should not be able to touch the other side of the belt...it should move about 1/2 way if you put just a bit of force on it.... "snug" is about the best word I can come up with....
I think putting the new head block is a good idea... but you might want to make one change at a time...I would try the frames first and have the head ready to go if you still need it... the problem is that you are not getting it all the time.... so that is why I am guessing at the frames first....

Looks Good...
Video is looking good.... it looks as if you must have the esc set pretty good just from looking at the video... but for some good info, try contacting DrBen here on RR.... he has a good handle on the CC set up's along with the gov mode if you will be using it.....
Good luck on getting those batteries in time for your event...

SDX is driving me to drink........
I have replaced EVERYTHING. Im still running without the 3rd bearing block. I have triple checked everything.

Here is what I got today.

Normal is damn near perfect 1800HS. Even the light on the gyro is steady.

IDLE1 1950HS I get tail vibes. Doesn't look right and doesn't sound right. And I get a slight head bump still.

IDLE2 2200HS headbump seems to go away but the vibes on the tail look like its going to explode. Heli holds its heading but the tail box is is blurry when I look at it.

Go back into normal mode and it goes right back to its nice smooth self like it should be.

What is going on!!! I've damn near replaced the entire heli. The entire tail is new. Belt is properly tightened.

Dial Indicator????
HAve you used a dial indicator on the motor shaft and extension????
If your tail box is a blur, you can bet it is a high freq vibe and it is starting to show as the hs goes up..... something around the main is giving you your troubles......

Good Luck..... Stan

Can you see if the tail vibrates sideways or "up and down way"s? Are your tail blades balanced?

Machine Shop????
Do you have a flying buddy that has one??? OR maybe a local machine shop??? I am sure they could check the run out for you....

Worse case.... take the motor set up out and bolt it too something so that you can hold on to it out of the heli and spool it up slowly and see if there is any vibration... if you are able to keep your hand on the mount, you would also "feel" the buzz if there is something running out...... BUT be careful doing it this way.....

Im going to take the main gear out tonight and spin up the motor and see if there is any vibes in the frame.
Maybe a bearing on my motor is bad?

Bad Bearing....
A bad bearing in the motor could give you this problem... I have seen high freq vibes from and out of round clutch stack break bolts... and usually if it is in the tail as you describe, it is coming from the front.... hope we might have hit on it.... let us know....what gets me is that you had it on the first and now the repaired.... there are only so many common factors left!!!!!

I will be checking later this evening.... Good Luck.... Stan

Airshares, was your main mast bent when you hit the ground? If so, maybe it damaged your motor shaft... Maybe when you installed your motor in the first time, when it was too tight, something got forced and slightly bent...

Main mast was not bent. The heli came down flat. Just for precaution I replaced the main mast.
Here is what was replaced on this heli:
Entire frameset including bearings
New main gear set
Entire Head including grips and bearings
Entire Tail including blades, bearing, tail box, belt boom, supports.
Skids
Main shaft, feathering spindle, main blades.

I just hovered it again and the first the head bump starts in at 1950. Then the tail is also got a vibration as you can see the tail box is blurry. It almost appears to be moving side to side more than up and down.

I've tried different tightness on the grip bolts. Tried moving the gyro, used different tapes for the gyro.

Checked my motor and its in perfect alignment and no binding. Checked my tail belt and tried different tensions on it.

I just removed the head and main gear and spun the motor up to 1800. It is perfect. No vibes, other than a small high freq vibe thru the entire frame that assume is normal when running a motor at that RPM that is bolted to the frame. I observed the Gyro while it was running and it wasn't affected. You could definitely feel a high freq vibe in the tail boom if you put your hand on it.
But I did observe the motor shaft extension, motor can and pinion and they were spinning true as can be. absolutely perfect.

So, all I can think is that maybe a bearing is bad in the motor and that small high freq vibe is the monster.

Just dropped the RPM down.
Now in 1800 its pretty good.
I dropped IDLE1 to 1900 HS. Its actually pretty good there. Didn't see any headbump.

I dropped IDLE2 to 2000 and it seems better. But the tail is still a vibrational mess.

Is your boom well braced, all it's screws tight? I just hope you find it!

On my part my motor and esc are coming in this week, hopefully the motor mount, pinion and adaptor will follow shortly after, and I added to that last order the Direct Control Conversion Kit for the Sdx(I'll do that other conversion a bit later on in the season). I also ordered a new delrin gear kit.

I removed everything nitro from my bird, cleaned it up, reorganized my field box... Guys!!! I just can't wait anymore!!!! AAARRRGGHHHH!!!!

I'll get you some videos!!!! But you'll have to forgive me for the data, since my esc won't have any data logging...

I gotta wonder if the problem with my heli is the motor. But Im not about to spend another $130 on a motor just to "try"
I've never had this many issues with a heli and it's quite frustrating. I will try and replace the bearings in the motor to give that a shot.

May have found the problem.
I get a PM from doorman asking about the lead in the paddles...So I took it all out.
I still need some further testing but things are looking good so far.
No head bump in all 3 flight modes.
I THINK...the tail vibes are gone too...I couldn't run it long enough in IDLE2, where they are the worst because the battery voltage.

Im charging now. will test again tomorrow..If all is well Im goin flying.
