Why Did This Landing Go Wrong?
This time, it's a runway overshoot on St. Barthélemy's notoriously short runway 10/28. Here is a analysis on what went wrong. St. Bart's is short, all right, but really not that different from a hundred other runways cluttered up with trees, towers, and close-in terrain. This is a stark, metal-bending lesson in airspeed control.

Just a guess, but which option would you prefer...skidding into a hillside or a nice sandy beach?
Looking at it you do not see any tire marks from landing at the beach side coming in over the water.

Airport gets a liability discount because there is no fire if they go in the bay, landing the other way they crash going up hill and burn and thus require a phone call to the local fire department

Prevailing winds for the island are easterly all year long, NE'ly summer, SE'ly winter. so landings would be downwind with 10-15 knots of tailwind.RapRexSynLogo Pilot

wind direction a major factor on prop planes, could have been the reason.I remember when sex was safe and Heli's where dangerous.
