problems with expo in swash menu
I got my heli all set up and when i enable the expo in swash menu, the collective jumps. Do you have to do your setup with it enabled, vs doing setup first, then enabling it. Confused. It should not matter should it.

Yes, you need to set it up with the Expo enabled. Also, when using the expo, your overall throws will be shortened. Make sure you raise your swash values accordingly..

And it does matter, just a little thing with the Tx programming. But once you fix it, you will never touch it again..

Speaking of EXPO in the swash menu, since I've never used it, what are the benefits and what is the downside? What percentage of good pilots use it? Is it more a learning tool or does it smooth out your flips and rolls if you can already fly?

FWIW, I use swash expo in my DX7 and have noticed a small difference. It does seem smoother with slightly less tendency to wander with collective changes. I did need to bump my swash settings up to AIL -75 ELE +75 PIT. +77. This gave me 6 deg cyclic pitch and right at +10/-10 on pitch.

I do use cheap servos (HXT900) so the effects may be more pronounced with higher-end ones.

I PM'd a link for you to check out regarding the issue.

Swashplate movement isn't linear, you get more movement per degree of stick movement at center than when the servos are closer to thier extremes.

EXP supposedly fixes that. Enable before setup or turn your swash percentages up after you enable it. If you're using a lot of sub trim don't bother.

Thanks Barracuda. On my better helis (450s and up), I'm pretty sure I use very little or no sub trim. What kind of set-up would EXPO in the swash mix help?
