Closing Classified ads that are "sold" etiquette
Too many folks are posting one last post to their ad stating it has sold... this pushes the now dead ad to the top of the list and all the good ads down.... not cool. I am sure that they just are unaware of a better way to close it.. hell.. it took me a while to figure it out.

Proper way to change the status of your ad to sold...

Edit the original post with "Sold"
Click the close topic on the initial post and save the edit.

this will show everyone that it has sold and close the topic and not push it to the top of the list where it does not belong any more.

Posts drop down the list to fast as it is...

I hope you all agree

I think they leave it open to give the buyer the opportunity to respond with feedback. I think that is a nice thing

You don't lose that function..
You can still add feedback through the feedback links on the add..

but...
if you want to leave it open that is fine too... just edit your first post to mark it sold so it does not pop to the top of the list for one word..."sold"

I agree. I always mark mine sold but leave it open just in case the buyer wants to respond. It also helps if for some reason the original deal falls through.

Also, don't delete the asking price after the item sells. It's helpful to have when doing market research.

1+ on the price. Why delete it, only two people know what it sold for, but leave the price for market trending!!!

Yea I always like to go look at old ads to see what price certain items are going for. Please do not remove the sale price.Procrastinators of the world unite ... tomorrow.

When will we learn? They don't care. They will keep doing things their way and it will keep annoying us. We will not find the word SOLD anywhere in the topic. Heck you can't even get some people to mark it SOLD even when it's been sold for months; they then get annoyed when you send them a PM asking about it. Wayne - Fly it like you stole it! Yes, I have run into what reddragon describes-guys who sold something a while ago who couldnt be bothered to close the AD and are annoyed that I have inquired about the item.

I always close my topic when it is sold. Lately, I have had a lot of buyers on things that just pm me and never put a post in my topic. That makes it much harder to leave feedback for them but I manage to get it done. It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
