Hyperion 5C charge rate
SO, some guys I fly with have Hyperion batts and push mega amps into them with no problems. I know Lipos catch fire so has anyone had any problems with these new batts charging at a 5C rate. I want to convert to them, but before I drop 100's on new batts to be able to charge in 15 mins I want to make sure that there truly that good... any feedback RR Crew???

hey, charging at highC doest cause the fire, wrong cell count is the main culp.
I been useing the icharger 208 with my new TP 40C 2 6s 5000s ran in parallel at 15 amps, will run 20 amps on the next charge, better make sure you are hardwired instead of the battery clamps or alligator clips. I redid my station so I can push some amps through it and nothing heats up now like deans and wires

Just depends. I know the icharger has a 350W max and it does up to 8 cells and will output 20 amps.

You could charge a 4s 4000mah battery at 5c. Now the difference seen between 4C and 5C is just minutes. 3C would about close to 25-30 min.

I have charged a 3s 2200mah at 4.5C and it took about 15min, I would be about 12min at 5C.

I am charging the 6S 2600 35C pack with the CellPro 10S at 10 amps. So far, so good. I plan to punish it hard this weekend at the Southern Rotory Classic. I'll continue to 4C charge until over 100 cycles or when the battery shows signs of wear and let everyone know what I find. I currently have only about 18 cycles on it.-Jeff T.

Regarding the new Hyperion G3's...IF they last a hundred or more cycles, they would be worth it to me. Unfortunately buying 2 4S 5000s would not be worth it for me compared to Hobbycity packs, even if they did last 100 cycles.Life is tough, it's tougher if you're stupid

You said to have it hardwired, no alligator clips, What do you mean.. I run alligator clips on my truck batt now when were out at the feild.

the little ones like the ones that the astro 109 or tp 1010 has. they will heat up when you push some amps through them. batteries wont catch a fire, but the connections might . we are stomping into new ground here with extreme charges. just keep an open mine

HC packs maybe cheap but they're no good if you plan on running a high power motor. They won't last long. I am using the hyperion packs on my 450 and the packs are awesome. Too bad my old triton charger can't fast them Time for a new charger
