I like the looks of it and have had nothing but trouble with my tail on my heli.

The metal one that I got is not square. It was putting stress on the bearings inner race. They replaced the first one, and I installed the second one and the bearing exploded on spool up.(first flight) Wiped out the whole rear of the heli. Boom, hub, tail blades, tail shaft. When I was rebuilding it, I assembled it and then tried to slide the tail shaft thru the case. When I tried to slide the shaft thru, it did not line up with the bearing on the other side.
I put my plastic case back on and flew it this weekend.
I was flying it pretty hard doing some piros in flight. I noticed that something was sounding not normal, so I stopped the heli and put it into a hover. I was just getting ready to bring the heli in for a landing when the tail housing rotated on the boom causing the boom to shoot straight up into the blades. The whole heli wadded up and fell out of the sky from 50 feet up.
Total damage cost is around 200 bucks to get her into the air.

sorry about your bad luck. i've heard of another guy that had issues with his bearings but i guess he didn't have all the spacers in and it ate his bearings up. mines performing flawlessly to this point but i do keep a check on it every time i fly. i'd kill for the kasama setup but can't see putting it on a heli that costs the same as the tail.fly it like you stole it

I don't know what went wrong with the batch I got.
If you take the sides off and line up the outer holes, you can see a big difference where they made the holes for the bearings to go into.
They are off by .0030
It's enough that it is putting a strain on the bearings inner race at an angle instead of the shaft running straight thru.
That Kasama tail is a work of art.. I'd love to run one of those..
I ordered one of the Quick UK tail units, should be here this week.
It looks like a real solid unit. It will be nice to have a tail again.
I have been fighting with mine since the first day I flew her.

Yeah I did, but as Dan said they do not know when it will be in.
I can't wait and do not want another plastic tail so I ordered the Quick UK unit. I'll have it tomorrow and should be in the air by Wed.
I'll let you know how it looks..

I have owned and flown both the Quick UK tail and the Kasama tail on the Raptor 50.

Positives:
Both are ECXELLENT quality and beautiful looking systems.

Negatives:
The QuickUK requires a special tail hub and shaft - I haven't tried the stock shaft and hub so it may fit but it would kin of suck to fo "all metal" only to have one of the problem pieces still plastic.

Neither unit solves the real issues with the Raptor tail IMHO. Both sitll use the single point plastic tail slider system and the plastic bushed linkage arms on the tail grips that wear and develop slop too quick. Both systems are a PAIN In THE ARSE to swap belts on.

Whit I have found is that new new R50 tail system with the metal pulley and the upgraded grip bearings works really nice. It stil uses the plastic single point slider and plastic bushed arms that wear early but over still much bett and a very economical upgrade in comparison. And still easiest to swap tail belts on.

Now this is all assuming you are willing to add some plastic to your CNC heli

i'm hoping the new metal tail from amain for the frenzy will fix some of these issues. at least it looks to have a metal slider and bushing. blade grips are still plastic though with plastic lever. i think it looks nice though, bonus. flew the tz around again today, and the tail i have still performing flawlessly. now i'm gonna knock on wood.fly it like you stole it

OK, here's an update.
I got my UK tail today and did the install.
I have to say, this is a very nice unit. I am using the metal slider fork that you see in the pic that Dan posted with the stock hub and blade grips. I chose to use the raptor red plastic pulley in the unit and it's a perfect fit. Not to tight and not loose at all.
After putting it together I gave it a quick spin and it is really smooth. After I bring my camera home from work I'll post a pic.

I recently put the metal tail on my TZ. The spacers supplied with the kit really didn't do the trick of aligning the pulley correctly. I needed to use different thickness spacers to get it lined up with the center of the tail boom. Having done that, the tail has been working great.
