CDP4 autopilot question?
I was looking at this and noticed that it says you cant use with digital servos. I am using S3152's for everything except tail control. I am setting this ship up for AP work and it doesn't need super fast cyclic response for 3d or anything. Will this unit work? ANyone ever tried it? I also read "1) The current CoPilot does not handle CCPM helicopters ". I just want to know if this will work with my Freya 60. I am running a Futaba 2.4 ghz radio system. Thanks guys in advance.

Hi Heliguy- I've been using it for some time. If set up right it works well. I have 3050's on a Raptor 60 with no problems. One servo for pitch, one for roll. Of course, AP flight is pretty mild. The new version looks nice as well, but is pricey. My only complaint is that the sensor cable is susceptible to fatigue. I end up replacing it with cable from an old mouse. Great bang for the buck. No problem with 2.4ghz.

Thanks, so even though it says to not use digital servos and not to use on a CCPM heli it works fine?

Yes, I used it on my digital servo's, it works OK but you do loose resolution, not enough to keep you from flying but I did notice it on slow controlled maneuvers. I would recommend using the new CoPilot II, I recently moved over to it and the servos move so silky smooth now and faster. The CoPilot II will also hold the heli in an inverted hover for special shots. Rick

That was my main thing, I dont fly 3d and if I did I could switch it off. I just wanted to make sure that it would handle nice steady slow flying and not freak out and send it into the gound.

This thread caught my attention. So then if you have a CDP4 and a CCPM helicopter the stabilization system would perform without problems.

I would like to know why the company says that you cannot use it for CCPM helis, is there any reason they warn against this?

Anyways, thanks for the input, keep on going.

Just wondering then how some people have said on here they have used it with a CCPM heli? I personally like the CoPilot2 myself but some good deals on the original copilot. That was my main question is how are some people using them on a CCPM head system. If it is not physically possible then I just will not worry about it.

the cp4d will glitch with digital servos (trust me on that 1)
I already tried to return or upgrade to better unit but they flat said no

if you want to risk your heli fly the cp4d the fs8 is a better deal if you want flight stabilization get a Helicommand 3D

cp4d = junk

unless you have a raptor with analog servos

I would love a helicommand 3d but dont have the money. I have thought about the Copilot II and thought about trying to save for it. I guess I need to get a little more embroidery work up on here, lol. If anyone needs any shirts or hats then let me know so I can get a copilot 2 lol. Thanks. I guess I will not chance it. Not worth risking a heli and cam setup.

On this ship yes just use stab on the gimbal. It works great, I mostly shoot stills with this ship. I spend about a minute on a shoot continuous shutter operation. Single person ops. Work great no need for stab on this heli.

I like the small screen that you have setup on your TX. THat is pretty trick instead of a seperate screen on a stand or goggles.

If using the CPD4 with Futaba PCM you must use one of their servo buffers.
Note- Futaba 3050's are digital. I've also used the CPD4 with 9252's without problem. That said, I have had some QC issues with the CPD4. I have had a couple of them come defective from the factory. If defective when new its a bugger to chase down as you assume the unit is good.

I am using a 7c 2.4ghz Fasst system. I know the servos are digital but I have heard that you can still use them. I am more confused than ever now, I have heard you can use them, you cant use them. You can use it with a CCPM head, you cant use it with a CCPM head. I guess I will just pass on it.
