I flew a Blade 400 for many months learning flips rolls and loops. It served me well. HS-55's on cyclic and 401/9650 tail.
Crashed alot. Rotor hub was always sloppy. Even when I replaced it. Yes the shafts bend very easy. Everytime it went in I was replacing several parts. Got annoying.
Picked up a Trex 250 used. Never flew the Blade again. The Trex 250 seemed to fly better than the blade 400. I know, hard to believe. So a Trex Pro or Sport would fly even better.
But the Blade 400 did serve me well. It (blade 400) does ok with mild sport flying. But when you get into inverted hovering and inverted FF and backwards flight. Do yourself a favor and get something better. You will learn alot faster.

Apparently he took care of the frame flex issue. How many here who think the fully modified Blade 400 is so far below the T-Rex 450 Pro have even owned a Blade 400? I say most are just standing up for what they own! We are all guilty of that sometimes.

Now, the quality of the Blade is without a doubt lower than the Align! And on that note alone, I would dump the Blade for the Rex. It will be cheaper to operate in the long run.

helidevil looking at your pics you have almost full metel head, carbon blades, hitec servos,401 gyro and a motor . That is a a few upgrades? Can you list out the upgraded parts and there cost. Because if you spent more the $150 on upgrades (cost of a new DX6i transmitter around $149) then the blade 400 will be > (trex 450 v3 / trex 450 pro + DX6i) in cost. And know that the 401 new is around $139. Helidevil I just would like to know the upgrade list. Tx.

I'm a guy who likes flying POS heli's (don't know why exactly) I own a Blade 400 and my friend has a Trex 450 pro that I fly every weekend. I can tell you that I enjoy flying both heli's---I do not pretend the B400 is something that it is not, but the Trex pro is far superior in everyway to the B400 IMO.

Ah Evan D, you just proved my point.

The Yugo (Serbian copy of the Fiat 128) hasn't been manufactured in a long time. A more fair comparison of an upgraded Blade 400 to the T-Rex 450 Pro would be a fully tricked out Mitsubishi Lancer Evo MR to a Corvette. I wonder if your Vette could keep pace with the Evo on a race track? I seriously doubt it!

Well, i did get carbonfiber tail blades ,stubs paddles from CY and a gy520 I put the align gy750 on my trex 500 (its a very nice gyro). Everything else is stock. I would not recommend getting the upgrading the stock align paddles to the CY stubs, it seems to introduce a small heli drift, and make a very very insane cyclic rate (too much for my taste) this is with weights on. I had to dail back on cyclic about 15% in A and E. HeliDevil are you thinkg about buying one? Ifso make sure you get at least 30C batts. I'm using TP22503s30. If you like blade 400 then i guarantee you will not be disapointed. Only thing that i found that sucks is finding a good futaba fast reciver for it. The old 8ch fast recivers fits, but i don't think the new one does . But the new 6ch might get great for it.

400 vs 450

Thanks Guys,

It looks like I opened a can of worms!! Based on what everyone said I think I will go woth the trex450pro over the youngblood offering mainly due to lhs parts availabilty. The trex parts are readily available around here.
Everyone who talks about upgrading cost and there effectiveness are pretty dead on. I have dumped about 1400. in upgrades and and repairs after crashes. I have kicked myself many times thinking I could have purchased about 3 trex450pros fully equiped for what I dumped into the blade 400 venture.

Sorry, you really can't compare the two, one is a great flying model and the other is a kids toy! All kidding aside, the blade 400 doesn't really even come close to the Pro 450.
