Hirobo 30 size Mrb Conversion question
Hello

I have now converted and testflied mine Hirobo Lama with the mrb head.
First hovering test went well with small adjustment on the skookum Hiller pott, at the point when it was time to start doing small eights
suddenly the the tail didnt hold and a piruette was done, landed and
changed the tail rotor blades in to 50 sized and everything seems fine now and havent had that behavior since then, have anyone experinced that the origin 30 sized blades that are provided with the kit are to small to hold the bigger torque that 3 blade are producing?

I have the Futaba Gy 401 and mine gain is 85% on the tail gyro, Hiller gain at about 46% at the Skookum, mine lama is electric.

Thanks
Jack

No Problems...
I have flown the nitro version with stock tail blades and had not problems at all with it....
But on the electric conversion, since the power can hit a LOT harder, I would suggest that you take a look at the tail drive wire couplers to make certain that something may not be getting ready to slip... just a safety precaution.....

Good Luck, Stan

When I was running 2 std setup the tail was working ok, as I wrote
I only had this behavior once, checked the tail mechanics and everything seemed to be ok, as I couldnt find any faults I swaped to bigger blades and now the tail holds without problem, but still im curious why this happened since you guys flying with the origin blades without tailproblems with Mrb heads?

Regards Jack

Hi - I think I have more or less the same setup as you including the sk360 and it works fine with the standard tail blades. The heli is never worked too hard though - just gentle circuits and lazy eights. I'm very happy with it apart from the cost of batteries! I am thinking to upgrade my current battery setup - what are you using?
I don't think it makes a difference but my tail servo is mounted at the rear not at the front like the standard setup.

I think that theres was some kind of issue with the 9254, sometimes as it didnt manage to pull and drag the tail control rod when testing it manually, what I have done for now is that im have taken whole bom
and tail gear apart and checked it for failurs, also changed to another 9254, have greased tail pushrod, unfortunaly havent had time to testfly yet, someone was mentione that the tail drive shaft could be sliding from the mech but this was controlled by losing the small hex screws near the mechanics and also on the tailsaide and loctiting them again. still think that mine first 9254 not was"healthy" but not shure.

Tail Drive
The drive rod can be a problem if its not in line. I know mine did not fall in line correctly and had to be adjusted using a couple of small pieces of fuel tube to prop up the end nearest the drive output shaft. I recall seeing on another forum that someone else had the same problem.

I did have some tail authority problems, but once I put 95mm tail blades on, it went away. My setup is pretty much the same except I'm running Nitro still with an old OS32 engine (a little underpowered):

Stablization: SK360
Main Rotor Blades: 550mm FunKey
Gyro: GY401
Tail Servo: 9254
Tail Rotor Blades: 95mm FunTech CF
Governor: CYB
Headspeed: 1550RPM

Absolutely stable and easy to fly. Other SK360 settings:

Control Rate: 100 / 120 deg/s
Bell Gain: 20 / 25 %
Hiller Gain: 50 / 40 %
Damping Gain: 20 / 16 %
Tail Drag Comp: -6 / 0 %
Hiller Decay: 50%

Looks like the Century 3 blade tail rotor is no longer made.

Any others out there for this application?
