I did not start this thread to start a controversy, only to inform the Forum members of what was happening to me. I made two calls to Century this morning; both times I was told that Paul Pan was busy. I asked if he could call me back. He later called me back, but it was obvious by his tone that he was irritated with me for posting on RunRyder. He insisted that he could do nothing for me unless I sent Photos of the problem. I asked him to open a kit and look for himself; he said he could not do that because the opened kit would be considered used. He insinuated that I did not know what I am doing. Then he commented that my lack of cooperation in posting the photos meant that I was only interested in complaining.

I borrowed a macro camera and took and sent the photos to Century.

If I had treated a customer with the same belligerent tone in my 36 years of service I would have been fired. But he is the manager, I guess. I really do not expect satisfaction as he is starting to attack me on this forum. Any one who knows me know that I am easy going and will let lots of things pass, as I will with this. But he is making me out as the bad guy for posting on Runryder.

I posted only to reinforce your message. If I did anything to offend, you have my apology. I was hoping to save another heli fan the disappointment that I experienced with my JayHawk.

I can work with outdated instructions, lack of blueprints, etc, but when the windshield is bad what do I do. I am building the Century Black Hawk Coast Guard version, painted version. the price is over $1000. for the fuselage, so I expected a pretty nice helicopter. The Coast guard version is really a Jay Hawk, though called a Black Hawk in Century's literature. I know that the Jay and the Black Hawk have different windows. Well my problem is, that the mold lines on the vacuum formed windshield are over a 1/2 inch away from the cutout lines in the fiberglass fuselage. My assumption is that the windshield is from a Black Hawk, while the Coast Guard version is a Jay Hawk. E-mails to Century are as expected, ignored. I will never be able to show a model with such obvious a flaw. I guess you can't expect much for $1000. these days.
then:
I did not start this thread to start a controversy, only to inform the Forum members of what was happening to me
Seems to be a contradiction of your initial post quoted above, as it seems pretty controversional to me.

CenturyHeli's post:
The only email we received from jack726 on this issue was on September 10th at 9:27am regarding a windshield fitment problem he was having with this fuselage. We replied to his email at 11:36am the same day. We requested photos so that we can see what is going on and that is the last we heard from him prior to this thread. We were directed to this thread over the weekend so we do not know what is going on and why he had posted stating we did not respond to his emails. We spoke to him this morning and he said he did receive a response for the request of photos but it was an inconvenience for him to send photos that detailed.
This only seems fair in answer to your accusations about them not answering your e-mails. I cannot see anything wrong with that. In fact I would be a bit miffed if you had e-mailed my company, and we had answered your e-mails and you then went onto a public forum and basically said we had not.

I may be wrong here, but I do not see how sending a picture could be so big an issue. I personally have thought a windshield for scale H-300 was molded wrong years ago, only to have someone show how I was wrong, as I was looking at it from the wrong direction. Flipped over, it was fine!!! I would have looked like a right rectum if I had made a public issue of it. If the manufactuerer had asked me for a picture and I had sent it to them, they could also have corrected me.

Is not the whole point to get your issue resolved properly? Co-operation, without starting a public controversy usually is the best way to get anything resolved. Heck, sending them the windshield may take a bit of time, but would probably be the best solution.

Somebody may have packed the wrong windshield in the box. Sh#@t happens. So calmly adressing the problem while giving a manufacturer a reasonable amount of time to solve it is all one can expect.

I am sorry Jack726,but IMHO, sending the manufacturer an e-mail on the 10th and then making a public forum posting on the 11th seems a bit unfair to me.

P.S. And I have seen the same post of yours in some other forums also...hmmmm? I sure hope anyone gives you more time to make right any mistake you make with thm, before they hang you out on the perverbial public cloths line.

AS usual, anything posted on this forum will turn into a controversy. I guess you are not allowed to say anything negative about any product unless you get permission from the manufacturer.

I stated that I have since sent Century photos and endured being considered to be incompetent and uncooperative on the telephone. This was early this morning; I have not heard back yet.

I have not sent my windshield back, because I would rather have a flawed one than none at all. From Paul Pan's attitude this morning, I do not expect that this will be resolved in my favor. If it turns out other wise I will start a new thread to inform all of this occurrence.

I have built almost every fuselage Century has to offer. Century seems to be falling behind newer companies in variety and detail. I have built several from a distributor called RC Teledyne; they are fantastically detailed and have a wide variety of models. Thunder Tiger has some interesting fuselages now. Since I have to pay shipping and sales tax on a Century product and since all their models seem to be last generation designs,I have no problem giving my money to the newer companies.

Being thought incompetent annoys me as I am retired and build for friends. I have built over 20 scale models and have been in the hobby for 40 years. I have built an all balsa Apache from Approach eng. I was slightly dissatisfied with the windows but said nothing about. To my surprise I get an e-mail, then a unsolicited telephone call to tell me he was sending me (and everyone else) a new set of windows. Now that is what I call satisfaction.

I am not going to follow this thread any more as I try to keep things pleasant in my retirement. I find my blood pressure stays much lower that way.

Thank all of you who got anything good out of my post.

Good By.

sorry Jack but your post/replies here are a bit unfair as well as uncalled for, Century's reply and Old Fart's replys sums it all up for me !!! after all Century has tried to help you from the start !!!

but to add,, you said,, ""seems to be falling behind""

well I don't get it, if you don't like the Fuselages then why have you bought/ built almost every one of them ?? I mean if you don't like them then why did you spend $1000 on one ?? (Jim scratches head) and surely you have recommenced them to other flyers..

Oh, by the way,, Century does NOT make them, Funkey makes them..

I do agree some with what Oldfart has said but I must go on the record stating that Century-HeliWorld does not handle e-mails well as a whole. I've had problems with past orders, my credit card and credits for items that were received in error and my e-mails went unanswered. After a couple of days I picked up the phone and called, yes my problems were handled. On my last order I was instructed to "call first" before I placed my next order, we can't always do that. I do understand that things slip through the cracks but e-mail response was never their forte.Wayne - Fly it like you stole it! You're in good hands with Runryder!
