Gave up on mine
Ive been a big proponent of this motor, it makes awesome power especially with the Hi Flow TT pipe, I just cant seem to get the kind of consistency out of it that it should. I am replacing it with a YS 56.

I dont always fly helis, but when I do, I prefer Outrage. The most interesting man in the world

what fuel Percentage are you burning ??,

I burned 15% and 20% for 7 years, yeaa I just had to save that $16 per case, well I chased Needles constantly, then last summer I went to 30% WOW never never never again will I go without 30%,,

if your burning 30% and need to chase Needles look for an Air Leak,, if you not burning 30% get some !!!

i have the tt53 with the plate for the os carb. i am having trouble geting a good idle.i sealed everything with rtv to prevent air leaks. i have the low needle at 1oclock towards lean.the high needle is about 1 little over 1/4.i have a mcCoy 59 hot plug,(it the omly new one i had left.)any ideas on the iradic idle. i got great instant response on the carb from idle to full throttle, and plenty of smoke.the back plate is a little over cool(i can hold a finger on it for ever)

what fuel are you going to use?

Also what shims do you have installed. The original thinner shim, or the new thicker shim? I think mine runs better with the original thinner shim, but I admit my testing was done in cooler weather of teh fall too, so I'm sure that factors in :O.

You may find with that 60L carb that you might have a rich spot in the mid, just work past that and don't worry about it. The OS50 hyper guys had that, and it was pretty much how it had to be, otherwise if you tuned it for good transition, they would have lean cackles at times coming into the mid range of the carb. maybe you know this, but just offering in case you didn't.

thanks juan and coronal
i have the original shim never have opened the motor i have blown 1 o.s.50 hyper any 1 ys 50 and the redline just keeps going
so i put the os carb on to see what happend i love my 53tt it has the best power so now i hope for more. i run it around 200-220deg it likes it hot like 220, at 200 my os sucked thats why i blew them trying to lean out more and more
i use magnum 30% cheap feul but works like any other and all my motors look fine. i got 12gal in my 53tt and no problems looks good no bearings nothing
thanks rapyjack

Well, I just got back from 2 test flights at the field before sundown after doing this mod, and all I can say is if you have a Hyper carb, don't waste another dime trying to fix the TT53 carb. If you don't have one, then get one.

This thing will idle all day, consistently, no matter where the fuel level is in the tank. Applying throttle from idle to 50% is a smooth progression without gurlgling, stumbling, loading up, etc and the mixture is just right at hover (3 sec pinch test at idle). At WOT, the power is noticably improved. Mine runs better without the governor engaged (I think the gov is pulling it to low) Power climbs are effortless too!

This thing runs like a scalded dog. I want to see it go head to head with a 55!

Do do the mod!!!

Wooooooooo Hooooooooo!!!

SC Raptorman, thank you ever so much for finding this!!!!

I should mention i run a Hatori 523 and Rotorrage 30%

ouch
feeling kind of stupid right now, as i'm expecting a bran new titan se combo with the redline inside. i know from reading this thread that not everyone experienced the sticky carb issue but still, buying a new engine and start to mess with it modding it?? make me want to sell it without even break it in and get an os instead. any thoughts?

This isn't specific to the sticking issue. This thread also addresses the overall performance. I can say that my TT RL53 with the Hi Flow 3D pipe spews fuel everywhere and does not tune with the updated TT carb. It also rattled so much that the fuel looked like it was boiling in the tank at every combination of needle position and with every combination of shim.

I do have the adapter plate and intend to try the OS carb since so many here have seen a marked improvement. For right now, I have switched back to an OS 50 I had on the bench and all of my issues went away with the heli I had the TT 53 in.
