My last video of flying the King. Which was January 2009
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlnzrkqphaw

Tail doesn't hold. Links are all worn out. I put cigarette cellophane over the balls to give a snug fit. Otherwise the swash is all over the place.

A lot of miles put through the King. I would have to replace majority of the parts to make it flyable again so the King has been down for over a year now.

I still own and fly my HBK2...it gave me a fit today when the control rod to the tail pulled apart.BEFORE and AFTER shots.

Sadly to say, but my HBK is grounded and not because of lack of parts, but simply because I cannot find time to fix it after trying to upgrade it and failing with this and chasing problems with other helis.

I had recently put a belt cp v2 head on mine and I just as recently snapped the head in 2. I've decided i'm going to go copterx head on it and may or may not do something with tail other than the rear pully replacement i did.

I just picked up a King 3 (2.4ghz) for dirt cheap (123heli).

I know better than to just fly it out of the box and see what breaks first. So after a little link-turning, sub-trimming, pitch-setting, gear-meshing, and lubing everything, AND putting in a DS420, a GP780 and an AR6100e (and removing the horiz. fin) I maidened it.

Guess what? This thing is really stable. Slow on the controls but very positive and solid. Couldn't believe it. Compared to the King 2, they've really tightened up the slop, strengthened the frame, given it some decent power (for learning on), probably sped up the tail a little bit too. It was really a lot better than I expected.

7 minutes of smooth sport flying at 100% throttle on the stock battery. I think this would make a better 1st CP heli for someone than a Blade 400.

Now I want to see how little I can mod this thing and get it to do some half way decent 3D. I'll start with the paddles, & pinion. Carbon blades if I have to.

So HBK is back in the air. It got new tail assembly, 10mm boom. Tail is a bit on a heavy side, but looks like it does not influence flight. At least with swash leveled, I did not need to add any trim. So far, so good.

No vibs on tail on 3000HS, but it required empirically adding and removing tape. Pretty much time consuming.

I honestly don't know what my headspeed is, maybe about 2700 or 2800, its tame compared to my friends Trex pro which sounds like 3000 or 3100. I don't have a tach so its all guess work.
No flying today, we have 40-50 mph winds coming from all directions I might try later if it calms down to 20-30

I tried to fly mine, but it seems that all was not well with the new dx7 and setup. The HBK2 felt that sleepy, nappy time was a better idea and laid sideways, destroying the Belt CP head I just put on it.

No matter, I had an extra copter X head and am going to fit that on there.

A little bit I guess, I used to cut 2 mm off the top of the stock King 2 mainshaft to get a little more cyclic throw. I always liked the flybar cage better than the ring-like oval push-rods.

I don't like how the oval rods break in a crash.
My belt CP one snapped in a small flop over of the Belt CP.
I did not realize it snapped and it was surging to the side on me once and a while.

I hear ya Melnic ! Same deal with the ole Blade cp's They would break and you never knew it. I am currently using the Blade 400 head on the King and flipped the blade grips and mixers for better cyclic with the stock King 3 radio.
I use King 2 spindles with the 400 head so I can adjust the blade grips tightness with the nuts instead of adding shims
The guys I fly with cannot even lift my POS off the ground I get a kick out of it

Stinkin inverted funnels are kickin my ass I can do them only when flying around me and feel totally relaxed and have total control as far as the speed, angle and height but cannot do it in a circle outside of where I'm standing --- a total mental block the weather was pretty nice though, you lika my fancypants

Still happy with my King 3. I installed KBDD paddles and tail blades and an 11T pinion. Align GP780 and DS420 on the tail. Using 860mAh Outrage NRG (velcro'd in the front of the canopy) to keep it light. No problem doing tic-tocs, fast backwards or anything really. Kind of relaxing, low energy 3D (for 3.5 minutes).

The KBDD paddles and tail blades really improved the tail hold and flip rates.
