My rudder linkage at the end of the boom came off during flight. I hit throttle hold and autoed it in. When I got it on the ground and looked at the control ball on the tail pitch slider, the ball was worn in the middle enough to cause a major flat spot all the way around the ball so even a new ball link end wouldn't stay on it. I didn't know a plastic ball link end could wear out a metal ball so quick. I have only been flying this heli for about 3 or 4 months.
Is this normal? I only do mild aerobatics.

Very normal especially on the tail. The plastic links will last almost forever but the balls go flat.

yup, Aligns metal balls are crap. Replace them periodically should help.

The balls on my Stratus is as good as new after so many flights!

I guess it's "You get what you pay for" thingy.

The link was tight when I installed it. Didn't expect it to wear out so fast.

I'm going through this now too. I now check every day (pre-flight) all links. If they are loose I replace them. I have had 2 crashes due to this same problem. My balls looked just like your pic.

Yep pretty normal that the 4 tail balls where out fast. I heard quickuk makes better balls for the 600 but I have not tried them yet to confirm that. I do know that just using quickuk links on Align balls does not make the joint last any longer.
