I just dropped the os 50 out of my raptor to install a governor and I took off the muffler. The prevois owned must have had a crash that took out one side of the mounting holes for the muffler on the engine and it was JB welded. When I took the muffler off it fell apart.
How do I fix this? I don't have any JB weld but is this even the best solution?

I have fixed an OS 50 case. I don't think JB weld is the best, it seems to crack and fall apart. I used a two part aluminum type metal set. I gobbed a bunch on and then used a dremel and a sanding block to shape it.

Another option is to put a wanted ad here on RR. I'm sure you can find someone with a spare engine case sitting around.

I would go to your local pep boys or autozone and get some repair stuff

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

That's new to me.
What kind of aluminum metal set do you mean? Any brand or other info so I can search?

I would opt for another case. I'll bet there are plenty of os 50s around with blown pistons that could be picked up cheap.

I am sure there is (bearings keep failing)

or you could get a Redline 53 and never look back

Good solution.

Ask your doctor if your heart is healthy enough for Radio Control Helicoptering.

wait I have one more question...do you remove the wrist pin via the back plate an then slide the crankshaft through the back?
How would you recommended doing the switch?

Pull the piston sleeve out first and then you can pull the con-rod off the crank. Then just pull the piston and then push the crank through the back.

This link will help.

as long as the muffler it sealing against the case i wouldn't bother renewing it. I crashed my 91hz about 6 months ago and done the same thing tried to use that quick steel stuff but soon as i tried to drill it it broke . But like i said it was only half of the hole where the bolt goes through the engine casing and doesn't affect the seal around the pipe so left it as it was. and it works fine no probs at all.

I know I used lock tight why did my head explode
