Hi

I am putting together a trex 450 clone w/ ar6100 rx, Dx6i tx, Hitec 65mg's, gy401/s9217, 50 amp esc and the copterx 430xl motor.

I have been following the Finless videos and have finished almost everything, just need to play with linkage rods a little more.

The problem is that I can't seem to get the 401 into hh mode. In the gyro menu i have set both positions to 70% and i have even tried reversing the gyro in in the reverse menu. But the light on the 401 is still flashing.

Please give me any tips to help out, other then to watch finless's vid for the omptith time.

Thanks

When in doubt, rebind with the radio set above 50% gain first then see where you're at.

Also, make sure all the leads are plugged into the motor. If even one wire is unplugged so that you can check you pitch range without worrying about the throttle, the GY401 won't initialize.

When in doubt, rebind. It never hurts.

another tip with the 401, make sure there is no trim or sub-trim in all flight modes. That will cause the 401 to start blinking if it's initialized with different trim from the flight mode you are going to fly in. - remember to check throttle hold.

Well I had forgotten to locktight the tail do i waited intill this morning for my first test flight. Slight breeze, hot sun, a perfect day to fly. Got my new bird to lift off and hover, then did a quick lap. My blade 400 never was this stable, the bird is rock solid (except a little elevator trim (: ).

I am so happy it works now i have to decide to either outfit my other copterX 450 or wait and buy the walkera 4g6. Damn heli addiction never takes a break.

THanks

well i've already crashed it. I can do figure 8's really well when turning away from me, but I still can't hold a nose in hover. Sooo I tried to practise nose in hovering. I was doing alright until i drifted to much one way, dumb thumbed, and witnessed a boom strike. I think I pushed the boom up with the quick landing into my main rotor.

luckily the damage wasn't too bad.
1 blade was unscathed other had a knick from the boom.
slightly bent main shaft
1 boom and brace ruined
but worst is the 2 teeth from the main gear (annoying as I hardly had any throttle)

Already have her back in the air so only a few hours of down time.

PS. Get hitec 65mg's, coming from a blade 400 where if you look at the servos they break
