i've got an old raptor 50 i'd like to use with an os50 hyper. i've built many airplanes so i've done my share of sanding, but never a heli. i've sold all my airplanes because they just don't do it for me like the helis do. i started with helis but somehow got into building planks as well. i plan on making this project take a long time. i want all the little details possible. this looks like a good kit for that. thanx for all the tips.fly it like you stole it

well I think you've seen most of the detail, its actually all up on the panel. The side panels dont really have much detail because all I did was glue down the "pictures" from a side panel. I am semi-satisfied with it now, I need to get it done and move on the the fuselage rivets and panel lines.

When I come up with a better idea for the side panel I will probably pull those existing side panels off and re-do them

I want to finish this thing soon so I can fly before it gets cold

and by the way, CA glue attaches fabric to balsa very quickly, like instantly. So you can just pull your fabric and hold it, then CA down the edge and you've got cushions!

so I went to Kinkos and they have clear sticker sheets. They laser printed 6 of these for me for 11 bucks. Its Lucida Sans Unicode, 48pt, bold.

I might try cutting them out with an exacto and using it as a stencil for airbrush painting the letters on. If I mess up , then I can just use it as a sticker and flat clearcoat over it

getting a lot closer now. the gun still needs to be painted before it can go on. I have to do the panel lines, some weathering, decals then the clearcoat. Then all the final stuff for the chassis. I'm going to step back from this one for a while and just let it simmer. It will be darker once the clearcoat goes on.

that part you just did, that's a huge part. It takes a while to make sure thats all lined up and the drive shaft is correct.

like I said I'm putting mine aside for awhile, just need to think about weathering and panel lines, dont want to rush it

plus my back hurts like a bigdog today. I might spend most of the day on the couch. everyone who sees me makes the statement that it looks like I'm losing weight. I think I'm losing muscle mass since I havent been able to do to the gym for 3 months
