No... Between work and the weather not being that good, I haven't had a chance.. The spring weather here has been either raining or windy.. AND if it is a nice day.. I'm working.. I'll get there though..

First Hover Test Flight
Well... Finally!!!!

I went out to the field cause I got sick of waiting for the wind to calm down.. Anyway.. with the field's wind sock straight out, I got in a 7 min hover test flight.. Had my hands full... It's hard to get a handle on trim when she bouncing around so much.. The other thing is I didn't get the tail dialed in... Talked to my flying bud and I need to up my gyro setting.. That's a long tail moment out there..

Well, anyway.. it flys!!

Great news Grant.................Just moved house myself last week. I have 400 acres to fly on in my back yard. Now if only the weather would co-operate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it cannot fly on it's own, then I won't be much help....

Yes winter is about to arrive.............. But should still be able to fly once I get things sorted with the house and my heart which is playing up.
Have not progressed with my Cobra at all over the last few months due to lack of time.
Could you please give me your electrics list for your machine, I think I got it off you before but cannot find it. Is yours the E or 60 size?

I still have my tail in headling lock even though Doc Tim says to not have it there. I'm happy with mine right now. Grant you are going to have to make a tape recording and just let it play over and over....

because by the time you answer all the questions about "whats that, is is a kit, what chassis, really nice how long did it take to build...." then another group of 3 guys walks over and starts in on the same questions.

then there are the guys who ask you those questions while you are trying to fly it....

Heading Lock works fine Jan but I prefer Rate because the tail follows and looks more scale .. I don't like a tail that moves then stops quick ... I like to "FEEL" the Tail .. ... just had to say that!!

I hear you Jan.. I've been through the 1000 questions and then they start all over again.. It's cool though.. What gyro are you using and what setting are you using? I've started out with HH at 50 but it's got to be way to low.. I'm with you on HH.. Sorry Tim..

you will like it. Its very nimble and picks up speed fast. Grant my gyro is just a 401 and its on HH and like 80.

my only place where my heart is up in my throat is transitioning the big 12 lb beast back from fast flight to approach/hover. It takes up a little more space than I'm accustomed to and I've cut the lift too quickly before and bounced it. I'm a little more used to it now but my transitions have a way to go till they are scale looking.

I'm in Tucson this week and cant fly. I want to get a flight or two in this weekend when I get back. Miss the whirr of the tail rotor. It has a nice zing to it.

Tim is that the drive cable making the whirr? What interval do you recommend disassembly and inspection/lube of the tail drive?
