HD radio vs. satellite radio
I’m look at upgrading the head unit in my car. I have read that you can get traffic alerts and weather in text to display on the unit.

Is this service free or do you pay for it?

How does HD radio and satellite radio compare?

HD Radio is a FREE service, and is "where available"

Satellite Radio is a pay-for service, that means no local stations.

I haven't heard HD Radio first hand, but if the sound quality is anything like Satellite Radio, It should be a night & day difference in quality as compared to FM Radio, (about like comparing a cassette tape to a CD)

I like Satellite Radio because I can tune into a specific station that best suits my personal music taste. Most stations are commercial free. Also, there is no fading in & out of stations like with regular radio.

You get what you pay for, I guess.
