hobbyparts wren to XLV conversion

just seen http://www.hobbyparts.com/index1.html

make a conversion kit to fit a wren MW54 into a Vario XLV.

sounds nice,

I like the XLV (had one e powered once)
and I like wren

anyone had any experience of the kit, and the combo,

any good, or steer clear?

HobbyParts are well respected, and I've never heards of any problems with their conversions.

i had the jetcat version, it is a lovely big model, a bit of a bitch to get in the car as it is nearly 1/4 scale, but the boom does detach, it uses huge blades. as you well know from your electric one. I did have a problem with the tail authority but now with more turbine experience under my belt that would be easy to fly around or overcome with a mod..
The only other thing i would say as a critism was the leaky fuel tank caps,as the fuel tanks are mounted upside down so the thread part of the neck goes through the base plate, which means it is 1/2 -1 turn from being real tight.. i used PTF tape and tried other means, in the end i just ensured they were empty...

my club did not like it as it was too big, for our field so i was limited - if i had the money i would go with the wren version anyday..

I had a fly of Phil's/Hobbyparts owners wren conversion and i loved it.. he even showed me a few autos on it,it was lovely...

As bell bloke said Hobbyparts have a good reputation and their back up is very good.. Phil is a very knowedgable accomplished pilot who flies both full size as well as large models..

in fact i would go as far to say any model he flies he makes it look good.. and makes me feel sick ha ha

with envy!

thanks for all that,

just thinking ahead to maybe next year.

Just got my wren/pred back so thanks to matt and ross.
Had a good look over all the extra work, very happy. looking forward to firing that up soon!

I'd also recommend the alloy blade grips. They are very nicely done but did require a little elbow grease to fit well. No big deal though, easy to work given the size.

The beatings will continue until morale improves...
