One issue I've seen is that the head block seems to be easily bent in a crash. Compass is supposedly revising the block to make it a it more sturdy. I guess if you don't crash, you won't have a problem with it.There is one upgrade that's worth doing: frame reinforcement under the battery tray. That area of the frame has fairly narrow strips of frame material (G10 or CF). In the same crash that bent the head block, the frames also broke in that spot. A frame doubler would be nice if I had the equipment, skills, or time to cut G10 or CF. |

My only complaint would be the dampeners. I would really like to see something other than the O-ring/delrin style. |

The only mod I have done to mine is to make a longer flybar. It makes is a little more stable and even quicker (I toned it down again after going to the longer flybar).I am also going to upgrade the gyro from a 401 to a 520 as soon as I can (I have the 520 now, I just need the time).Team KBDD/Compass Team Manger/Experience RC/Team JR Americas/WR Field Rep |

I have 3 complaints.I cant get rid of the constant head nod in forward flightas you do a fly by the tail gearbox is bouncing up & down so is like the head nod you get in the hover when head rubbers are to hard but i am running a 9 tooth pinion & 100% throttle curves.I also dont like the tail blades with the 2.5mm hole & bolt this limits the selection of after market tail blades that all use 3mm bolts so i put on the metal trex 500 tail rotor hub & blade grips which i beleive will be saver & i have more choice of tail blades. The third is i find the canopy to round in that i mean it doe snt have enought vertical height & makes it hard in some light condition to orientateThese are only my views & im not knocking the model atall its awesome to fly, caopy i can live with, head nod i will get sorted eventually & the tail rotor hub is sorted so all minor really.Mongoose Srimok FAI SAB Goblin ENV Rave Next D 450 |

I would agree with the tail bobbing comment, although I only seem to have it when doing abrupt stops on elevator. I imagine the bob on mine is even worse since I run the 8T pinion, but the heli flies so awesomely otherwise that it really doesn't bother me that much. |

Can we see some picts of adding the TREX tail blade grips? I looked at doing that and though something wouldn't quite work, although I can't remember what now. So your pictures would be great. |

I installed the kasama t-rex 500 tail grips and tail hub on my atom. fits perfectly, just have to flip the tail pitch links over 180 to hit the grips right.

the more i fly this heli the more i love it.at first I was not real sure aboout the 500 size but I really like it now,and man this ATOM is such a good heli, its stable powerful and responsivetonight i tried 2 things new too just for fun.I threw on a set of the new 430mm CF blades from compass(had them here for a while but i am a FIRM believer in not messing with a heli when its flying great.)these blades are really nice, smooth and very fast on the collective, plus i like the black and white.I think I like them better than the funkeysalso I tried the 8T pinion, and I tell you for doing circuits I could not tell any difference from the 9.it was getting late and dark so tomorrow i will try some flips and rolls and such, but so far so good.I'll have to charge the batts too to get some #'s.But as i said,I will put these blades and pinion through some fun stuff in the morn so i can get a better feelCompass helis Support Team PerformancePlusRC field rep Mini Titan/SE TEAM KBDD |

I'm just finishing up my Atom and one of the complaints I have is the difficulty in bolting on the servos. I realized i had placed one of the servos on wrong in the front and could not switch them out without removing both top servos and main shaft. I tried doing it without the removal and could not get it. What a pain its gonna be every time I need to replace servo gears. |
