SK360 LED Problem
I have a Raptor E620 with the SK360 mounted up front under the canopy. This helicopter has the motor in the top back and the radio and gyro mounts under the canopy. The stock canopy has a clear windshield so I can see the LED with no problem.

The problem is that I want a lighter weight fiberglass canopy but all have painted windshields and I can’t see the LED to tell the SK360 has initialized. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Could you put the canopy on after it initializes. The canopy comes off anyway ever flight to replace the battery doesn't it???There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I use A123 battery and always leave them in the helicopter. Charge time is only 15 minutes and no battery cool down required before charging. I could take the canopy off every time but I was just looking for alternatives.

I was just wondering how the scale guys handle this. Do they just count to 10 and go fly and assume it’s ready. Looks to my like they need some other method if signaling ready like moveing a servo or something.

How do other brands signal when they have initialized and are ready to fly?

Just wait for a couple of seconds to initialize, then move the aileron or elevator stick and let it snap back to center. If its working you can see the dampening in the head as it will move slowly back to center. How I've always done it.

I never assume. I look into a window to verify the solid green LED every time. You could drill a small strategically placed sight hole into your canopy to see it at a glance.

I had the same problem. I was sick of taking my canopy off and waiting for the LED and putting the canopy back on. So I put some chrome vinyl on the inside of my canopy. Now I can look in from the top back of the canopy and see the LED reflecting in the chrome.
