Spectra G Arrived !

I'm not new to helis yet I'm not very accdomplished either. (Just starting into forward flight.) I have 4 electrics that I'm working with and started reading the gasser forum and got so damned excited I couldn't wait so you guessed it I now have a gasser to build. Hoping to join the ranks of smooth flying gassers.Well gotta go I've got vids to watch and manuals to read.Its much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission!!!

About 8 weeks ago I bought a complete ready-to-fly Spectra G from one of our club members. Since then I think I might have flown one or two of my nitro helis MAYBE a dozen times. I'm to the point now I've stopped bringing a nitro heli with me when I go the field I just bring the Spectra, the TX, a gallon of gas, and my field box with tools.

Put a lipo pack in the TX and get a Jewel generator for the Spectra, then you can fly ALL DAY for the cost of a gallon of gasoline not having to worry about lugging around chargers, battery packs, glow ignitors, starter motors, and all the rest of the "stuff" you need to fly nitro or electric

I love my gasser too and rarely fly my one remaining nitro.
I do miss however cleaning all the oily goop all over the heli after smoking the field like a pest controller spraying DDT all over the place,,,,,

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Well said, but you forgot to mention paying $5 a flight (unless it's a .90 in which case it is more like $10 a flight).Avant RC

Picking up where turboomni left off, you also forgot to mention the finer joys of managing charge status for the glow heater battery, Rx battery, starter battery, electric pump battery, and of course the amusing prospect of butchering the electric starter to turn it into a totally practical, 3-lb cordless dumbbell. And then there is the 20-foot, 5-gauge wire attached to the car battery. Which brings us to the pinnacle of cordless power freedom: the extra car battery, left on charge during three whole days, then put into the car's trunk, then hauled gracefully into the pit area at the flying field.

I'm sorry, but no inconvenience compares in my mind to having to wipe that oily slime off your hands, your transmitter, your aircraft, your sunglasses, and everything else you bring with you.

I can put up with all of the inconveniences of running nitro fuel except for that one.Avant RC

oily slime off your hands

..at last it does clean easy .. the tarry residues here might not happen often but are a pain to scrub. Wife's hob cleaner works wonders!
..thing I hate most is the nitro exhaust in my hair...always blows that way!pgk

had to look this up. In the US, I believe we call a "hob" the stove.

Actually I think it’s the other way round, we call a Hob a Hob you just mix things up

Joking aside a Hob is just a set of heat rings that you fit in a worktop were as a stove is a complete cooking device that stands on its own.I only like to fly gassed up
