5 things:

(1) As far as the isolator goes, you can just install a large relay like an older Ford starter solenoid or if you go to the local car stereo shop, you can ask for a PAC 150 high amp isolator/relay.

(2) Make sure the activation lead for the solenoid goes to the IGNITION and not the accessory, that way you can listen to the radio while you fly and both batteries will still be isolated from one another. The rear battery will only be activated when the car is running.
(3) The fuse should be of the 150 amp variety
(4) The wiring used should be 4awg or larger between the batteries
(5) DO NOT INSTALL THIS WITHOUT A FUSE IN LINE!!!!! Doing so you run the risk of shorting a 4awg wire to ground with no protection. If it does short, you WILL watch your car burn to the ground

A lipo has NOTHING on a shorted 4awg wire!!!!!

Update: Just found out that the optima batteries are $180!

So I'm just going to go with the Sears Die Hard Gold batteries for $90. That should work OK plus for the price of that optima I can get another marine one to charge with

The Die Hard Gold is a good battery. The Civic size is rather small. I had a Gold Series for a Chevy C-20 pickup that lasted about 5 years in a hot rod that I started once every 2 weeks. The Optima is more expensive since ther plates are larger. They are rolled like a jellyroll rather than flat so that there is more area.

When I picked up my Die Hard Gold battery at Sears the guy there said that Sears is just releasing their own high prformance deep cycle battery line to compete with the optima that is suppose to perform better and cost less. Unfortunately they don't have one in the Civic's size
