From my experience, Jeff, you'll love the Vision 50! Just a simple machine that really performs!

My recomendations:
Buy the front mount tail rotor servo to fix the CG and get the servo out of the exhaust
Get a carbon vertical tail fin (lighter and much less flexible)
Lighter paddles

And hold on!

for sure put the tail servo up front, mine is still tail heavy, though I'm running a small A123 pack. Easy to build, flies great. Do you have one of the new "V2" kits or one of the originals? Take a look at some of the posts in the ElyQ forum here. Bottom line, light airframe, fast cyclic, easy build, easy on the wallet, lots of parts compatibility with Raptor and some Trex.

I have had some issues with my "V1" kit. No show stoppers and most these issues should be fixed with the new kits.
- main one-way lock up - known issue, ElyQ sent me replacement
- Didn't trust the plastic tail fork, put a metal Raptor fork in
- Broken clutch. The liner gap is too big. Measure the gap and reline the bell if its too much

I *just* ordered my free kit from Readyheli ;-) so I'll be able to compare the V2 to the V1. This makes my 3rd Vision kit, I like 'em.

Oh, keep an eye on the links. I used a link sizer in the build and one of the hoops got pretty loose after a gallon of flying. I could pull it off the ball link pretty easily. Replaced it and I'm ok. Some have reported possible link popping off in flight. A number of guys have reported not liking or trusting the links and replacing them with a different brand. I've been ok with mine, just keeping an eye on them. Other parts on the Vision-50 I think would make a good upgrade to Raptors such as the open tail case and possibly the belt drive gear may not drag as much as the Raptor white gear though I haven't tried that yet.

Don't size the links!!!

Especially the hoop links. They will be very difficult to install the first time but after a couple flights they are silky smooth.

^+1 I agree don't size the links. Mine are all smooth now, took only a few flights. Mine have broke in and are butter smooth but still a super tight fit, I can barely get the hoops off with my ball link pliers they're such a good fit.Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'

Well you know my story! I didn't resize the links, they were slack from new! Thats why I had a swash link pop off twice!! Means I haven't had the balls to max out my cyclic and pitch so it is no longer a fast heli! I would also upgrade to the metal blade grips (expensive though!) as the stock plastic ones flex like a bitch! Oh and you may need to tap out your engine mounts as they couldn't be bothered at the factory! Stock canopy is crap aswell. Flybars are the same price as a main shaft and also 1 plastic landing skid! £6 for a flybar! Frames are brittle. Some work is needed on the one way to get it running smooth. The clutch clearance has already been mentioned. They're giving them away for a reason!

Make sure to use the recomended 19.5mm length servo arms on cyclic.
60% of the time, it works every time!

They are giving them away but coming out with all carbon kit that looks to be better quality . I'm just using stuff I have laying around to get this flying so when it is done it will be all free then I will fly the piss out of it until I destroy it then throw it in garbage ,still free .Also all new helis have their problems so its not unusual for this one .So far Hyper 50 ,Align pipe , AR7000 ,TJ pro , and 8717's . The gyro might be a new 520 have no tried one yet but have 611's ,V's or align mains ,KB paddles and tails.Lipos and no reg.I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

You're going to like the 520. It is a very smooth gyro and piro rate is very nice, consistent and controllable. I was doing some big piro hurricanes today with a modest piro rate and for a second I got entranced by how smooth it was and I was really able to nail it down and keep it symmetrical and maintain height and speed.

Then I had to go and get all cocky and smack off my boom on a botched inverted auto, lol. Didn't break my blades though!

I will like to get the Competition 50 as a second machine, but the Vision 50 is still very fun.
